Exercise through the day?

Hi

I have had this one question i was really hoping someone knowledgeable could answer.

What if, instead of doing 15sets at the gym for the back, ( I am not saying one has to do 15 sets for a back specific exercise, i am just giving an example) A person does one of the exercises at a time to failure but 5 times a day panned out throughout the day.

For example ( Again this is just a rough example of the different back workouts i am not prescribing that these exercises should be performed in this particular order)

Gym VS Throughout the day (SAME WORKOUTS BUT SPLIT)

3 sets of BENT OVER BARBELL ROW 6 AM : 3 Sets to FAILURE
3 Sets of BARBELL SHRUG 9 AM: 3 sets to FAILURE
3 Sets of BENT OVER TWO-DUMBBELL ROW 12 PM: 3 Sets to FAILURE
3 Sets of REVERSE GRIP BENT-OVER ROWS 3 PM: Sets to FAILURE
3 Sets of BENT OVER TWO-DUMBBELL ROW WITH PALMS IN 6 PM: Sets to FAILURE

Any thoughts ?

I've thought about this too.

Like Conan the Barbarian, was toiling away all day instrumental in his large physique or was it hurting his growth through recovery too much?

When I broke my leg the first two days on crutches were tough, with little or no recovery after two days my triceps adapted and grew.

Look forward to responses on this one too.

Well you sort of put all the stress on the Biceps, Shoulders and Triceps for two days in a row. The whole Conan thing is not what i am saying either.

My suggestion was if someone does the "SAME" workout / the number of sets / the same exercises as what he does in the gym but split through out the day, would it have the same or similar impact as compared to training in the gym for 45min - 1hr.

The Conan thing was tongue in cheek, my guess is that it's hard for recovery but I'm looking forward to seeing what comments come back

are you warming up for all of these? that adds to the volume as well. if you do 3-5 warm up sets for each workout in the day that would have you doing 15-25 more sets, or 30-40 total sets. seems a bit excessive. sure you could do it, but i bet you could do half or a third of that and still stimulate just as much adaptation.

and why are you taking all sets to failure? did you read some crappy magazine or some Bro and they stated hardcore all the time???
