Excessive Workout Supplement Use: An Emerging Eating Disorder in Men?

It was a joke as I don't do drugs at all, including steroids or PHs. I was just saying that everybody has their thing if they take the time to reflect enough, but anything can become an issue or unhealthy if it begins to affect others or has a negative impact on your life. If somebody wants to spend their hard-earned money though, they should be able to without others putting them down...but for some people, THAT is their thing.

I've never been the brightest guy in the room so let me ask you a clarifying question: So your point is that if people are wasting their hard earned money on a bunch of supplements that likely don't do anything, no one should tell them it's dumb because that's putting them down?

You can do whatever you want, but yes, telling somebody they are dumb or what they are doing is dumb is putting them down. Personally, I try to educate others by offering advice, but its up to them to use it or not. It doesn't bother me what somebody else does with their money as long as it doesn't hurt others.

Exactly.

If a crackhead is your benchmark, that's a problem in and of itself. Lol
If you work hard, have the money, and enjoy exercise and supplements then there is no issue. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it an addiction. People spend thousands on cars, golf clubs, motorycles, tricking out their cars, and other hobbies they enjoy.

It's not being compared to a crackhead, it was obviously meant in jest. You're saying anything you enjoy and spend money is an addiction.

If it doesn't affect your finances, others rights, and is legal then it doesn't matter how you spend your money. I guess addicted to nice food because I drop $250+ a week on groceries delivered to my apartment.

I had a serious addiction to supplements when I first started.... then I wised up ;)

I've got my few staples that I use on a regular basis, but the best way to look your best, is to make sure your body is functioning properly and primed for performance - no gimmicks. The majority of supplements I take these days are aimed at overall health & nutrition - to keep thyroid levels optimal, adrenals in check, sleep in check, blood pressure in check, etc. Very few I take are 'bodybuilding/performance/recovery' related. The healthier you are, the better your body will perform.

I kind of blame the false marketing behind bodybuilding supplements as a big contributor to why so many people put so much faith in them. From hiring models whose steroid use is very obvious/apparent to the trained eye, to straight out lies in the marketing materials. Of course, there are the tried and true supplements as well though, but there are far too many gimmicks out there.

I have a problem when it comes to new supplements lol if I trust the company and know/read it is a good product I want to buy it so bad when it's cheap.

When did I ever say anything about addiction and what does hard work, money, or the love of exercise have to do with anything?

My opinion is that 90% of supplements don't do anything, and the people that spend thousands of dollars on this are making bad decisions. The sensitive folk will say I'm putting them down. I call it sense.

Hell, I could justify spending a lot of money on anabolics, cars, golf clubs, or having food delivered to you because at least you get a tangible return. But there is so much money that is spent on natural supplements that don't do anything; that doesn't make sense to me.

Because people are fooled by marketing, dr oz shows, etc... However some natural supplement do actually work.
The average Person doesn't take the time to do any research on what they are taking, they rely on the marketing and what companies claim their product does..

I think we've all purchased BS Supps...

Yeah, what an amazing study, its right up there with the one that looked at why lesbians gain weight. Wasting your money on pointless supplements doesn't mean you have an illness, it means your a fool.
