so here's the lowdown (per matt, his research, as well as some personal experimentation)...
OG recommendation per matt - use only with large cheat meals, and only sporadically, or in short bursts (such as a few day vacation (like the cruise mentioned above), or holidays (a large meal or two once or twice in a week or so). His original research showed that at full dose (4 caps with at least one meal per day) the effects became lessened and then actually became an issue with inhibition of fat gain after a max of 3 weeks of regular, full dose use. The reason was that the MOA that some of the items uses begins to have a more lasting effect on the absorption of certain things which began causing negative effects and thus created issues with longer term use that would actually lead to (for lack of a better term) a "relapse" of sorts.
I can say that I've personally used this for an 8 day cruise (all you can eat/drink) and even with full 4 cap doses 3x/day, I still gained a ton of weight, much of which was not good... for a cheat meal, or few holiday splurges, this is stellar. Even for a few sporadic meals on a vacation it will work wonders... for an all day every day binge, theres nothing that helps that ha. I gained 28lb in 8 days (obviously not all fat but you get the point)...

The next thought (per matt as well, and one I've tried personally as well) - You could dose this daily and for a much longer term (4+ weeks) if you are using a much lower dose. This would be something like a max of 3-4 caps per day total and you would never take more than 2 with any meal. Only dose with your largest meal or two (I did 1 cap with my first, lower carb meal and 2 with my next). The thought here was that with the lower dose, there would not be as drastic of inhibition of the pathways and therefore the tolerance/buildup/eventual complete inhibition would not occur. This protocol was intended more as a fat loss aid, and not a fat gain inhibitor like you would normally use defuse for.
When I ran this protocol (6 weeks or so I believe), I really didn't see any additional fat loss. I did experience some additional bloating though which was really the only difference I saw. Weight loss did occur, but nothing that couldn't be contributed to diet. The proposed "drastic" results never occurred for myself or any of the other low dose loggers (and we were using this with ketoinduce as well). For a cost:benefit, there are other, better options that don't have any of the rebound or potential long term use issues that defuse could have.
In short:
one off or occasional cheat meals - great use
short term (<10days) binge/cheat mitigation - good use (paired with some reasonable level of control)
long term (>2weeks) full dose - not good. potentially negative effects after this time
long term (>2 weeks) low dose - ok, but not really cost effective
