Ever experience discrimination??

Recently I was just at VisionWorld right after I got done working out so I had my wifebeater on and a decent pump. It seemed to me that the attendants there were ignoring me because they spent about 10 minutes behind the cashier counter, and right when I was about to wave them over so I can check out the glasses that were in displays, a couple people walked in and immediately the workers there were all like,"hi what's up, need help?" I didn't want to interrupt their chat but I really wanted to say,"hey man, can you show me these glasses right here?!" Argh, just trying not to be a jerk is tough.

No offense dazzlin' jack, but, i doubt it was "discrimination" in the conventional sense because anytime you go into any store wearing a wifebeater the workers automatically are gonna try to dis you...unless you look like Jay Culter or Ron Coleman. Then they'll just ask you questions and poke you like your some kind of circus freak.

I've experienced discrimination...all of us have in some way or another. Its just that most white people don't care much when they get called "white boy" or "honkey" so I don't put much thought into it. At least whre I'm from, most of the mexicans are very freggin' rude even if you put on a smile for them. I can't even go to a local del taco without some form of discrimination. i basically get my food thrown at me and im probably one of the most overly polite people you'll ever meet and this happens to me 3/5 times at fast food restaraunts.

so cal is pretty diverse, and i experience some overtly blatant discrimination all the time. doesn't bug me any though. i laugh it off and think about hwo ****ty their life must be to be that upset. say fwck the del taco and head off to my local friendly japanses sushi chef :D those japanese restaraunts (half are korean) usually have the nicest damn staff... i love those places.

Sushi is better anyway. I have the same experience for the most part except for one tex mex place here in NY. Don't know the nationality of the guy who runs it, but the main worker there is a muslim guy from God knows where and the others are mostly Mexican, with one Equadorean and one Irish kid from a neareby school who works part time. There I get great service. Of course, they also know me by name and have my chicken and rice grilling before I make it to the counter too. Good spot too, no marinates or preservatives, just fresh grilled chicken and seasoned yellow rice with steamed peppers and onions.

But you're right about the Japanese. While the sushi isn't great everywhere the service at those places is incredible. Never had a bad experience, which kind of sucks because I like to tip good when the service is good, so I know I'm going broke on sushi night.

El Salvadorean food is very good and I find consistently good service in those places as well, and there's quite a few southern BBQ/creole places here as well where you get great servie and great, though unhealthy food.

Ah, to the topic at hand though (can you tell I like food?). Discrimination? Perhaps I've sufferred some, like not being able to find a car where my knees don't go through the dashboard because they're all designed around anorexic midgets with no leg.

I have a few friends who are from Japan, and they are VERY polite people. Even if they don't understand what I'm saying, they nod and laugh, lol. Too bad I don't like sushi!

Looks don't matter, except when you live in a materialistic, shallow world such as ours. People judge you and stereotype you by how you look, and it's too bad. But, like someone's signature says on here, "Be the change in the world you seek"

I have experienced discrimination because of my tattoos and my physique. I conduct myself in a peaceful and polite manner most of the time, but I still get dirty looks.

People hate what they fear, you know? I just try to dress nice, act humble and build more muscle than them :)

Ya isn't that funny that we white guys don't care when ppl call us cracker and stupid **** like that, lol. And i agree with what was said earlier wearing a beater in alot ppl's eyes=low class.

I went down to England last year to a gig and every time I went to pay for something I'd be asked "Is this real money?" quickly followed up with "oh you can't pay with Scottish pounds." wtf!? The money is exactly the same as ''English'' pounds except it says Sterling on it, I can't make any sense of it...if Scotland didn't accept English (Bank of England) pounds then maybe I could understand but that's not how it is up here.

On the plus side it's not like I find myself in England often.

Ziricote, usually managers of businesses here don't really like Scottish money.I find it quite funny but maybe it's just a thing, when I try to give change out and there's a five pound note,Scottish, the customer always asks for an English one.Funny sh!t lol.

I live in an extremely materialistic environment… a high rise on rush street (and oak) in downtown Chicago.

Hard to find a more superficial, materialistic, status seeking bunch than you find there.

Perfect crowd to push my art on….lol (need to get on that)

But yeah… people who stick their nose down at the ones they consider to be *beneath* them make me ill.

I almost feel sorry for them.

Btw – I live on the 31st floor…. And of course I am better than *all* of the people on the 30 floors beneath me.

F*ck those pricks that live on the seven floors above me.

As far as discrimination goes…. I have never been discriminated against by a woman…. really. No matter race, social – financial status or whatever…. They seem extremely accommodating (wife beater and all)

I like to think that the men are simply intimidated by my extraordinary body - looks…(and NO that’s not just in my head)

After all… knowing their girl or wife lusts after you…. puts them in a bad mood.

On a serious note – I hate snooty people and have NO patience for them.

As far as racial discrimination goes… haven’t experienced too much of that.

Even while I was in jail… everyone was pretty cool (and I was most definitely the minority)

The white boy thing is true… I have never taken offence to it.

Maybe I just don’t give a ****.

Yes, I have, and I'm a white male.

it sucks

"IIIIIIIIIIII'm guilty of being white. I killed some one but don't know who"

After going through the fire academy in San Diego, all my teachers and my friends dad (fire chief) said I should just give up as I am too white.

Yeah I heard something similar but still, it's pretty rediculous imo.

Yup… cook county jail. (4 months division 10)

Btw – I went to the gay pride parade a few years ago….. (in boys town)

Wasn’t too bad – only thing was that most of the drag queens looked better than the lesbians.

A little disappointing.

Maybe you didn't have any problems in Jail because you were always willing to play hide the sausage:stick: . LOL

Didn’t see too much of that.

That said - those guys did like to take awfully long showers.
