Ephedrine & Drug Testing

I've heard mixed answers on whether Ephedrine will cause a false positive on a drug test. I get random saliva tested at work and I'm wanting to run EC stack but I don't want to lose my job.

It's not a "false positive" it's a positive. If your test tests for amphetamines then it'll trigger a positive.

Right on the money. If you happen to have asthma you can claim you use it as a bronchodilator, which is a legitimate medicinal use.

Are you obtaining the ephedrine legally? Also, does your job specifically restrict ephedrine use (ie, are you a professional or college athlete)?
 
I just use Bronchaid from CVS it is over the counter and no they don't prohibit ephedrine use. I just have to pass a drug test should my name pop up.

Then you're fine. If they even test for that, say you got a cold and had some chest congestion. And I'll have to disagree with the other posters, as ephedrine can cause a false positive for amphetamine on some assays, but they're more than likely to retest it with another technique before they red flag you.
 
I've was drug tested a lot back in the day when I used ephedrine and I was always nervous too, but never had a positive, in probably 10 tests...
 
I will probably just talk to HR and let them know I'm using a it and could possibly test positive and see what they say.
 
I wouldn't do that if I were you they won't understand what you're saying, and take it as you might be taking something illegal...If it's for "asthma" or whatever you better have a doctors note to back it up...Take the test and if it comes up then explain imho.
 
The funny things is that amphetamines get out of your system very quickly. I'm ADHD and dyslexic and I take adderall so I can shut the **** up and pay attention to life around me lol.

I took adderall 2 days before my durg testing and nothing came back.
 
If your worried about it bring the package of bronkaid in and say that you had been using this and your worried about it. be honest to a point let them know it is an over the counter product. the only type of job where this may cause a small issue is something in transportation CDL truck stuff. but other than that just be honest.
 
Ephedrine is going to pop on a drug test. It is not available for sale over the counter in the US, and is illegal for sale in the US. It is however in some medicines that can be bought without a prescription, mostly nasal decongestants. For this you need to show ID. It is also tracked and you are only allowed a certain amount of said medicines in certan timeframes w/o a prescription.

Being said. The amount you will intake using these meds, vs the amount if you take it straight, will absolutely be questioned in regards to the discrepancy in the amount in your system after you take the drug test.

The drug test given for work purposes usually check only for the presence of a drug. The likelihood that the levels would be checked relative to the purpose of this test is rather low I would think.
