Well, that's not the OOS items that BPN has told me is delaying the order... but I still haven't had it shipped yet so...Will do!There's so much copying in this industry, formulas, branding, etc. Not a knock on anyone in particular, just facts.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it.
As far as copying, I was just explaining that it seems like people say that anyone with a diagonal name on the label copies BPI when it wasn't even BPI that was the first to have that. But also, that shows that BPI does do a great job with marketing to create that perception. And also explaining that if you look at the Muscle Addiction EpiAndro label for example, it actually doesn't look like BPI's capsule labels in my opinion; so then, armed with that perception, you can see how the adding the neckband for a shrink sleeve was just the logical step for a powder product.
I think there is copying in every industry. As for this industry, I worry a lot more about quality control than I do copying. A great example is that one UK 'company', and I put company in quotation marks bc I question the legitimacy of pretty much everything by them - so they tried to mostly copy M-Test. The problem is that apparently someone there didn't have the knowledge to realize that the doses they claimed on their labels is literally impossible per the capsule count. So either their contract manufacturer is lying to them or they're lying to consumers.
Another example - there's a company that literally started by copying 3 of our products. They were selling good for a particular retailer so that company does those 3 and conveniently starts selling only thru that retailer. They just went the flashy label route and were charging more than us for about half the quantity on two of them. It was irritating, but I just thought of it more as competition than copying. And the positive in it is that it shows people how good of a value that ours are.
Ingredient wise, there is copying, we've had it happen to us plenty of times. But we also have an industry where there's not but so many ingredients and there are so many companies that sometimes when a company plays around with different ingredient combinations, there are going to be commonalities. Example - almost every mainstream pre-workout has at least 3 to 5 of the same ingredients.
But I also think that a lot of companies like to play the victim card on the copying thing.
Here's a great example - I had someone accuse me of having an interest in another company because I spoke highly of their product; and the same person insinuated that that company copied the company they're associated with by releasing that product. Now, here's the irony - I was the first person to bring that ingredient to market as a topical under CEL in either 08 or 09. CEL stopped making all topical products in either 2011 or 2012, I don't remember exactly. A couple years later, another company started selling it as a topical. I didn't think anything of it; I didn't think of it as copying, I thought of it just as business was business. Fast forward to 2019, I license the product name to a company on the condition that they quality test every single batch of raws and use a specific td carrier (so yes, I speak very highly of it bc I know 100% that the raw materials are tested on every batch and the carrier is excellent) and then get accused of them copying their product. What makes it even more ironic is that the history of the product including licensing it is even listed in the write up. Now, I'm not upset at all about this, found it more funny than anything; but that's just an example of how sometimes companies claiming copying isn't always what it seems lol.
