E2 question, Test Cyp Results, do I Need Arimidex? Pharm Won't Give It...

Maybe he hasn't realized it acts as estrogen in a man's body. This is some relatively new perspective. Many still incorrectly think "weak" phytoestrogens somehow block "strong" estrogens from doing their dirty work, due to competitive antagonism. This is like thinking that adding some weak poison to a glass of strong poison makes the contents less poisonous. The fact of the matter is that phytoestrogens just add to the total estrogen load.

The ALA is of some benefit--but not too much, as it has been shown to increase prostate CA risk.

There is some new evidence that GLA actually activates estrogen receptors. There was a lecture on this at the past A4M convention.

Despite flax being "the greatest source of omega-3 fatty acids found in nature", the dirty little secret is you can drink flax oil all day, and won't elevate DHA or EPA.

I'm sure there are also proprietary interests involved.

WOW!

Thats a 180 from what I had "learned"....

So, Borage Oil isnt a worthwhile/recommended supplement...? Do you not recommend supplementing for omega 6 (GLA) at all...?

I quit flax awhile ago...Nvere knew it was estrogenic...the risk of it bieng rancid stoppped me....As for the lignans, you dont recommend them either..?

I get my EPA/DHA from fish oil or cod liver oil....heard that Hemp is superior to them all, but have never tried it... (in oil form that is lol)...

More confusion...gotta love it!!!

Yes, more confusion! I was always, always under the assumption that flax seeds were good for you. Ive been taking 2 teaspoons a day forever. Looks like it might be time to pitch it till I figure more things out.

This is what a naturopathic dr told me

Dr john please clarify..
The fiber in ground flax, not flax oil, will help eliminate some estrogen metabolites so they dont recycle. Also the lignans in flax, not flax oil, are generally prostate beneficial. See the web information on Provail and its constituent seicoisolariciresinol diglycoside.
