Dutasteride

I'm new to the AAS/DS scene, and I've known about finasteride ... I had never heard of dutasteride until recently. I don't have any hair loss, but I'm thinking to get duta while on a cycle and pct. wondering if anyone has any experience with this? There seems to be a lot of sexual sides out there, but reportedly only occur in a small group of people.

Will this actually prevent hair loss and prostate enlargement? Obviously we can only really know of the hair loss, but for anyone who has taken it, did it work? Any sides?
Thanks

As you know, this is simply another 5a-reductase inhibitor. The difference is that it is more potent in that it inhibits all currently know isomers (I, II, & III) whereas finasteride only inhibits II & III.

Therefore, if you are taking a substance that can be reduced by 5a-reductase it would prevent much if not all of it from converting to DHT or other 5a reduced metabolites.

Personally, unless I had BPH I wouldn't touch Proscar or Avodart with a ten foot pole. And even then I'd be more inclined to use an aromatase inhibitor given new research on the role of estrogen and BPH. IMO, DHT is a good guy. If I was worried about my hair I'd choose a different protocol but not a 5a R inhibitor. There is lots of good info and many experts here on AM on this last point.

I currently take finasteride. The general consensus is that you should only resort to Dutasteride after giving finasteride a year to work, at minimum. If it's not working at that point, then you could consider switching to Dut.

There is a ton of research online regarding effective doses of Fin. Shockingly, most people see benefits for their hairline at only .5mg per day- half the usually prescribed dose. This suggests that going to a substance that's much stronger doesn't seem necessary for most people.

I'm thinking about trying .5mg of duta once weekly during the cycle simply as a preventative measure. I'm not sure if this will suffice? But it has a 5 week half life so I think it will be ok? My hope is that at lower dosage it won't have the sexual side effects.
