Zelensky knows that Russia bankrolled Trump after his bankruptcies in the 1990s, and now he is repaying his debts. Trump's wife is Russian, and realistically is probably a sleep agent.
There's literally TONNES of footage of Vance saying he hates Trump. He's as spineless as they come.

A lot of Americans feel we are being taken advantage of here and abroad and want change. I have to see how this all plays out, hopefully for a better economy but I do think the amount of executive power being unleashed is also scary. There are going to be future consequences with the current style of governing. It didn’t start with Trump but wow feels like a King is taking power in time, and it’s played like it’s all cool.
I didn’t like the Greenland remarks tonight, in particular the end.

Ukraines self declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 would be very similar to Texas declaring itself a sovereign country and then the USA and Texas constantly being at odds with each other while the States try to reclaim their territory and Texas tries to align itself with Mexico as a military foe on the souther border. The history here is hundreds of years old and nasty. Until the war, our own media addressed the fact that Ukraine had a "nazi" problem and its well known that Ukraine soldiers had to remove their nazi patches for photos for this war. The country has squashed Russian culture, including language, in violent ways doing anything they can to isolate themselves from their history and force people of Russian decent to comply.
I don't honestly see any reason why we should be involved. Would it be appropriate for the EU to send troops into Louisana to help retake Texas for the States?
If Ukraine joins NATO and the USA stays in Nato, then a conflict betweek Ukraine and Russia REQUIRES the USA to take it as an attack on ourselves and FORCES WWIII. Literally FORCES it. If Ukraine joins NATO then Russia, who SHOULD BE a trading ally, is surrounded by military might. If Trump keeps Ukraine out of NATO, then we avoid a massive liability. If he gets the mineral rights, therefore deploying hundreds or possibly thousands of Amerians to Ukrainian soil to work the ground, then it will keep Russia from invading, becuase Putin would not risk an attack on "Americans".

Its not that Ukraine "should". The issue is about what anyone can do right now to stop/change it. Russia took 20% of Ukraine and is willing to lose a million men to keep it.

Putin only wants to negotiate holding claimed territory, including territory his troops are not even occupying. Instead of Trump telling him to withdraw, he's basically telling Ukraine to give up their territory, again, to an occupying nation. Putin had already ceased control over aspects of Ukraine before this invasion, and he'd do it again after this "peace" deal.
Protesting is not illegal. It is a 1st amendment right.
Ukraine can supply the man power, all they need to do is continue fighting. In no way, shape or form should they be forced to concede territory simply to satisfy Russian sympathizers.
Imagine if in WW2 Hitler was simply allowed to retain control over Poland, France, North , Romania, Africa, Denmark, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium etc or if Japan was allowed to retain all the islands they invaded.

"WE" (the US) already saved Poland, France, Romania, Africa, Denmark, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium and defeated Japan too. And as a Marine, I take our contribution quite personally.
The reality is that Ukraine is running out of manpower and the West is running out of shells and missiles to give them. We can continue this game longer, and in another few months Russia will control ALL of the land they set out to take, and there will be one less generation of Ukrainians to be pissed about it.
The only way to push Russia back to the original borders would be with US troops and US graves. And we have pretty much decided this isn't our hill to die on.
Europe is certainly welcome to give it a try. Just double their contribution and it makes up for US support (or at least pretend it would).
But since NZ isn't giving Ukraine manpower or missiles.... you might want to mind your own damn business. You don't have any chips on the table.

The US always sees themselves as the hero. You didn't win world war 2, you helped contribute to the outcome - just like everyone else. The Russians killed over 3 quarters of the total number of Germans killed. But anyway, that's not the point.
NZ does contribute to the war in Ukraine - it may be small, but it's still support. A simple Google would have told you that.
The reality is, if you turn your back on your allies, and even threaten to take over their territory, all that will happen is that you end up alone. In more debt, and with everything much more expensive.

Being a taxpayer, its my money, and its all our money so we voice our opinions and vote. People voted for Trump, many likely were influenced that he would try to prevent WWIII unlike his predecessor.
Ukraine just needs to do their thing whatever it is they want to do, and also face the consequences of their actions which were very well known to the world what these consequences were, but the bankers wanted to bank on war and resources so its a sad situation I dont like.
