Donald Trump running for president

Shutdown continues. Slow news days have CNN wasting time reporting on DC field trips and even messed that up.

Did they really mess that up?
Those kids are racist little punks that honor a long standing tradition of racism at that school. Take for instance a 2015 basketball game where others from Covington CATHOLIC are even in black-face harrassing a player. So, reporting news brings awareness. It is news.

Also, have you seen the most recent flat earth eclipse? Really awesome. I can't believe I missed it! lol.

Meanwhile in other 'News' FOX... what a joke they are. Solid reporting there. What the heck. Haha.

Their school colors are black and everyone in their student section is wearing black. Thats quite a fricking reach to say theyre in "black face" and specifically being racist. My god . In HS basketball, and even college basketball depending on what the school colors are, every so often the student section will have a "blackout" game where theyd all wear black. Inevitably there'll be a few kids thatd paint their torso and face. In no way shape or form were they being racist lmao. Anything can be made into racist news if you spin it right and have ignorant viewers looking to get offended about anything and everything.

Is that really black face man? It looks like the guy just painted himself the same color as every other person in the section is wearing. Is an Alabama fan who paints himself red being anti-native American? And fans are *******s in general to the opposing team; I don’t think it has anything to do with race. Yelling at players on the sideline is par for the course; white, black, or purple. Hell, Philly Eagles fans threw snowballs at Santa...

The whole thing is a mess. As a Jew, am I allowed to say that the Hebrew group using offensive and aggressive language and tactics is not justifiable just because it’s their MO and how they typically evangelize? By that logic, the pro-life people who harass women outside abortion clinics are justified because they have a long history of doing it that way. It makes no sense. Not to mention that hostile evangelicalism has never won anyone over, and only makes for an easy target to mock and criticize. I’m not weighing in on who is right or wrong here, but this group wasn’t innocent/victim here at all. If you’re hostile, it’s only logical to expect hostility in return.

They are racist little pricks, and that's not all. Catholic? I went to Catholic School, and we didn't behave like this!

I liked your comment because you deserve and explain your position well. Indeed, things need to simmer down before someone is harmed with more than words. That school needs an investigation in how they handle field trips, and have behaved in the past and change needs to take place. Maybe it is a vocal minority, but they have some serious issues.

If anyone thinks that hat represents anything positive, their nuts. It is all about hating.

Yeah, the school people seem to have handled things poorly, but so did the Hebrews; that’s all I’m saying. In this case, it took two to tango; I have no idea what the Native American did, but the Catholics and Hebrews were both antagonistic, so neither can be the victim as long as neither escalated to physical violence against the other. The people trying to portray the Hebrews as the victims, or that their hostility was justified because it’s what they’ve always done have bad logic. That same logic has been used to justify a ton of racism in America.

But Catholics and Jews don’t exactly have the friendliest of history with each other lol. #crusades.

That makeup is pushing the limits, but debating if that is blackface or not is another argument. The fact is those are not the same kids. Can high school kids be pricks? Yes. That doesn't mean everybody in high school or even in that particular high school is a racist prick. If you're going to set that as your metric, then you have to use it for everything and everyone. I'm not saying those kids were 100% innocent because I still don't think the entire story has come out. All I'm saying is that CNN is so trigger happy to find any little thing to paint Trump supporters as bad that they jumped the gun and added to their problem of not performing due diligence before posting a story to their front page.

How is it pushing the limits? The team color seems to be black, as indicated by everyone wearing black. Go to any HS/college/etc. game and you’ll see people with body paint matching the team’s color. If Alabama fans painted red happened to be heckling s Native American player, would people be screaming racism? Or a if a Pacers fan painted yellow is heckling an Asian player?

Unless the guy painted black was explicitly making racist remarks, I don’t know if you can accurately call it racist TBH.

I didn't call it racist. It's a single photo that gives me no context. Whoever posted it also chose the photo of them yelling at a black player to try and sell their point that they want people to say it's racist. However, I think it would be really easy for somebody to make minor modifications to their makeup to make it blackface and then use the team colors as a defense or loophole, thus pushing the limits.

But did they make said modifications to it? How is it pushing the limits? It’s inherently close to something that’s racist, but that in no way makes it pushing the limits.

You’re basically saying that it’s close to pushing the limits, which means that in its current state it is not pushing the limits, as it’s a step removed from pushing the limits.

Black face paint with white lips is pushing the limit of blackface. I'm not "basically saying" anything. I'm clearly saying they are pushing the limits and I have explained why I think that. If they did make "said modifications", it would no longer be pushing the limits, but over the line. If something is "inherently close" that means it is pushing the limits.

I usually view pushing the limits as intentional. I really don’t know if this was or not, but I see your argument. Either way, lots of premature reporting and intentional manipulation of facts/photos at play in the media.

Agreed. Again, I have zero context on that photo. But even if that was blackface, it shouldn't count against the kids from the DC video unless it's the same kids.

do I know trump supporters who are bad-yes....do I know trump supporters who are good-yes...

just like every other group...hell I even know 1 or 2 democrats who might qualify as decent human beings, probably not any more than that though.:jester:

no. I don't own a M.A.G.A hat, lol.

you remember that rugby team, Stanford or something that rolling stones did a hit job on....glad you are reserving judgement till all the facts are in!!!

I don’t pay attention to Snopes ever since, in their check or if Trump won an Ellis Island Award, they ended their “check” by saying that Hillary did too. As if that had any relevance to the fact they were checking. They seem to have a bias really, and I’m NOT a “Trumpster” or even a conservative; I’m a libertarian who didn’t vote for Trump.

Then don't read it? I was only sharing it for those who are interested. If that isn't you, then cool, man.

They fact check reasonably well, and cite their sources so that readers can double check their work. Not a lot more that you can ask for, really.

And only one of the blackface guys had white lips, and for whatever it looks more like the Joker’s face than traditional blackface styling.

From Snopes article, it sounds like they have a history of harassing inbounding players; likely white or black. Fans are dicks. Like I said, Philly fans threw snowballs at Santa.

It wasn't posted to disprove anything you said, and I don't recall reading anything in there that does, so you shouldn't really feel the need to defend your argument any more than you already have.

That’s true, I was just elaborating now that I looked at it again. Plus I’ll take the opportunity to point out potential Snopes bias when I see it lol. Claiming to be objective fact checkers should mean not injecting irrelevant information to push an agenda.

The award became a question during the election while he was running against Hillary. Seems relevant to mention the other candidate. Snopes or any website should never be your 100% trusted source, but they do list citations to follow up on.

Thanks, yeah, that at least shows it's the same school. I guess I just don't understand why it's such a big news story. Even if (and most evidence is pointing to it not being this way) the kids were the aggressors, it would have been a single incident of a minor being disrespectful to an adult. It's not representative of that high school, or Trump supporters, or boys in general. News media (all of them) need to stop taking the minority and presenting it as the majority.

'based on comments in the bluegrasspreps message board, the intent was not racial but was instead a school tradition related to blackout games, during which fans wore black to support the team"

man the media[all of them] are nothing more than instigators to keep people from getting along....this is truly sad.

Agreed.

I think it is a fundamental problem with how media networks operate. Their revenue stream is driven by clicks, and humans apparently hate nuance. I'm not sure what the answer to this problem is, if there is one. All we can do is seek out the least sensationalist sources and inform ourselves, really.

Slightly old news but wasn’t aware of it until today. Wow, make ‘Merica Great Again!!!

is America any safer is hypothetical....there is no way we could predict the present if we change the past.

I can predict that the biggest danger to our Republic and national security is being broke. You cant spend trillions of dollars on hypothetical situations when your already 22 trillion dollars already in a deficit. Economies collapsing countries is never a hypothetical thats for sure. We cannot change the past, but this is now, the status quo is still going on and its time to end this irresponsible spending on slaughtering and displacing 10s millions of innocent people in the process on what ifs.

They should add the 2.3 trillion dollars Donald Rumsfeld announced was missing in defense spending the day prior to the event that started this whole war on terror and the day they took out the computer servers that were to be audited inside the Pentagon.

Grand total 8.2 trillion dollars to date.

if the democrats have their way their will be no United States Of America, just one big, happy global community.

In all fairness, counties hate us because we intervene, and then we have to intervene because they hate us. Plus not only do we spend a ton of money on war or “military intervention,” but we spend even more giving money and aid to counties that hate us after we give them the money. Sounds like a bad deal to me. The US has played world-police ever since the Truman Doctrine.

And our instance on intervening so much in the affairs of foreign counties all over the world isn’t helping this globalization lol. Both parties are largely war-mongers, just with different justifications to the public as to why.

the only time we haven't spent a ton of money on 'rebuilding' after a war was Vietnam...Vietnam is very interesting, they rebuilt without our money or help for the most part, and today we are on better terms with that country than many others we have sank a ton of money into, imo.

Yeah, so if giving a ton of money isn’t helping, maybe we shouldn’t do it lol. It’s like choosing to give alimony to your ex and having her still hate you. Why?

I think trump tried to do this with several countries and backed off when he got heat...united nations is another one.

but on the whole, I agree with what you are saying....we destroyed Vietnam and withdrew without giving a penny for rebuilding and today our relationship with Vietnam is better than many countries we have dumped MANY pallets of cash into.

UN is a joke too. Go look up what counties are on the human rights council. It’s like having obese people run health and fitness programs.

You're leaving out the part where the ex is raped and stabbed repeatedly in the name of liberation and democracy.

I’m saying it’d be better if we never got involved to begin with. The first time we made that mistake, sure, pay to help them get back on their feet, but we habitually destabilize regions and then have to stay there forever spending a ton of money to rebuild; who could have seen that coming.

As Christopher Titus said, America is bipolar.
...And we may feel bad about it later! Ask Japan. But before we feel bad... we're gonna jack you up! And then we're gonna send you food! 'Cause we're America; we're schizophrenic. Don't mess with a nation that needs medication!

We've given Vietnam a lot of money. They just don't call it reparations, but a lot goes for humanitarian efforts due to the war. And you're not going to like this next part. The President that is responsible for the relationship with have with them now is Clinton.
