The thing with Hitler and the Nazis is that the timing was perfect for such a thing. Had WW1 ended differently, what happened never would have happened.

The german currency was deflated at one point, $100 notes were being used as wallpaper. Germans couldn't buy a thing because of the huge debt they were in.

Hitler brought his country out of the hardest time it ever endured, and gave the people hope. He then capatalised off that to demonise entire populations of people. Trump is doing it now with Muslims. Other countries battle with immigrants of their own.

People needed someone to blame for the utter chaos that was created, and Hitler gave them a solution.

The problem though was that his solution was much more final than many people knew, and he went to great lengths to keep it under wraps.

But they continued all the way through even until after the US declared war with the Germany. It was well known by 1942, I mean our troops already are overseas fighting Hitler and US/multinational groups are continuing business as usual. The US government had to use the Trading with the Enemy Act to sieze assets to stop US companies/banks from continuing on with this. Ethics wasn’t much of an issue with some.

True, but Wasn’t Mein Kampf published before they went “full Nazi?” I read that most Jews didn’t even want to “waste their time” with the nonsense book he wrote at the time, but it seemed to be pretty openly anti-Semitic.Again, no one really could have seen the magnitude of what was to come, but when your openly anti-Semitic (publishing it no less) leader starts passing laws segregating Jews, forcing them to relocate, etc, it’s a good sign to be suspicious.

Again, I’m not saying that they “should have seen it coming” or “coils have easily prevented it,” only that we should learn from these same mistakes.
