Donald Trump running for president

I amend science to the scientific industry.

we good?

I don't know...you made me cry lol. We're always good man. Trust me, there are huge science whores out there too. I don't personally think Bill Nye or Neil deGrasse Tyson are good for the science community. There will always be outliers, but most of us just enjoy the science. I'm by no means a hippie and do enjoy money, but it's never been my main reason for doing what I do.

The problem is is that you focus just on governments.

Wrong

I work with lecturers who live and breathe environmental issues, and all agree what is happening now is happening at a rate faster than we could have predicted.

Well yeah sure, there are lectures, academics and scientists and they give their theories about science and have disagreements about other theories one says co2 the other says solar activity, then others have data the world isnt warming at all but actually cooling and people pick and choose the strongest case or be like me and stay skeptics, this is been going on for a very long time.

but im all for cleaning up the environment and making better use of earth minerals.

Now when it comes to cleaning up the environment I am not a skeptic! lol Has to be sensible policies of course, as you heard (shhhhh governmentsssss)

There are a whole lot of weathly people in every industry, so im not sure why you hone in on drugs.

Im all for good scientists making loads of cash, incentives can drive people to innovate. Thats not the only motivation of course.

What is often forgotten is that those who demand industries make cash, are not from that industry, but rather investors who cash in on any new tech

Did you know at one stage Antarctica was a island of life and trees?

Have you seen the Pyramids? Imo I think they are just mountain rock but it hard my heart pumping when I first saw it...but maybe ancient aliens made them.

As Floridians brace for the impending onslaught from Hurricane Irma, some residents have come up with novel ways of “scaring off” the monster storm, forcing police to issue a warning not to shoot at the hurricane.

It all started with the Facebook Event Invalid Link Removed, scheduled for 10am local time on Sunday. “Let’s show Irma that we shoot first,” the event’s description reads.

The prospect of firing rounds at the threatening storm seemed to strike a chord with many, and the event quickly garnered thousands of “attendees.”

At the time of writing, over 25,000 people have said they will “attend,” while another 53,000 have marked themselves down as “interested.”

The event was created by 22-year-old Ryon Edwards, who Invalid Link Removed he set it up due to “a combination of stress and boredom.”

"The response is a complete and total surprise to me,” Edwards added.

“I never envisioned this event becoming some kind of crazy idea larger than myself. It has become something a little out of my control.”

The event page quickly became flooded with memes enthusiastically endorsing the idea and even instructions on how to shoot a hurricane.

All this activity prompted the Pasco County Sheriff’s office to issue a warning not to shoot at Irma. “You won’t make it turn around & it will have very dangerous side effects,” the police department noted.

The popularity of the ‘Shoot at Hurricane Irma’ phenomenon sparked a series of similar events, including Invalid Link Removed and Invalid Link Removed.

Recognising the interest in their 'don't shoot' plea, the Pasco County Sheriff’s office followed up their warning with a call-out for volunteers to help out at emergency accommodation for people affected by Irma.

I also saw a story regarding all of the construction cranes left standing in Miami, at least one of which has already snapped. Whoever made the decision to not take them down in time needs to be tossed out into the ocean.

Damn...thats stupid, that just happened in NYC during Sandy figured people in the field would learn by now.

Those cranes are pretty big and have to be built in place... They're not anything you can just move or breakdown. But I do agree not the best thing to leave standing

I actually heard a news idiot say, and I am quoting him: "The crane you have to worry about isn't yours, it's the one nearest you." Brian Williams.
WTF does that mean?

Also, it appears they are all hoping for the worst so each of them garners some kind of 'news' award for reporting on the event. How about you get a paycheck for doing your job?

I know it's not a we shut down for the day sort of thing, but somebody somewhere made the calculation of what costs less: loss of money from a wrongful death lawsuit vs loss of money from shutting down construction. I also would not want to be the operator of one that made it through this storm, but now you have to sit in it and pray that everything is still 100%.

Or if your going to be truly lazy at least take it down to a secure point attached the building and re-enforce it sum.

This was the NYC one. I took a bus to NYC the next day after Sandy seen this from the NJ side, looks so silly from far always. (not my photo below)

Watching JAWS, and then some Giligan's Island.

the question for the ages....mary ann or ginger?

I think mary ann is the 8 to 1 favorite, but if stranded on a desert island ginger would be much preferred over the skipper, lol.

Thats interesting, didnt know about that. Did you know the worlds largest pyramid is in Xi'an China? I saw it from the highway (below not my photo) after I saw the Terra Cotta sculptures. Most people dont know that the sculpture army (from a bit of a distance) is protecting the 1st emperor inside this pyramid. Supposedly there are flowing rivers of mercury inside of it, ground levels detect high levels of mercury and supposedly this is one of the reasons they havent tried getting inside yet.

I learned all that from ancient aliens...plus a show I watched about the Chinese emperors pyramid!!!

Apparently I slept through the worst of it. A little upset about that, but I'm alive so, no complaints. I did get to go outside at 3am which was after it past over us and that was suitably creepy with howling winds and gusts shaking and rattling things I couldn't see or place. I also realized my dog was little help and at the slightest snap in the near distance jumped like a hot footed kangaroo and attempted to swing me the opposite direction. That alone did wonders for my shoulder! ha.

my dog would have 100% freaked out...he goes nuts just during a thunderstorm.

glad you are ok!!!

Glad to hear you're well. I have family down there that is thankfully ok. They're pissed to not have electricity or AC while it's hot as hell, but they're alive!

Glad your family is ok. I hope they get power back on asap.

We were very fortunate, only 24 hours without power, and I'm very thankful my wife didn't have to deal with it as she was working at the Hospital organizing everything to combine two hospital staffs to prep and take in patients from various surrounding areas. She is amazing. As I went to pick her up I got the text from our girls power was back on. Ha. Perfect timing.

I can't stand being out of touch and I get zero signal inside the apartment. I live in a Romex or Faraday Cage apparently... No power, no wifi. The worst was not being able to track the storm. I can't find my radio in the move and all stores sold out in hours. More human nature at work. Hell, an old lady grabbed an entire box of D batteries right from in front of us, took all the batteries and put the empty box down in front of us. We just wanted two for our flashlight! LMAO... At that moment, I had one of those, "I just can't right now" feelings. I just said, "Are you kidding?"...

We had candles at home, so I wasn't really upset. I bet those batteries outlive her... I hope. I'm kidding. No, really. lol.

I left my dog with some friends... I got a call early Friday morning she got out and went across the tracks into the "bad neighborhood". She ran away from the dog catcher. My niece saw her and when she tried to approach her she took off.... She doesnt like storms at all. All I could think about that day was her being stuck out in that storm.

The next morning one of the guys went outside at 5am and she was laying in the road. She wouldn't come to him but he coaxed her inside with a treat. That was such a relief knowing my dog was safe man.

I got home at 1am this morning with minimal damage and power back on. My shed was destroyed but a lot of people got a lot worse.

I remember your story in another thread and it made me think of my story. Glad for you! They are like family to us.

After finding the dog I dont think I ever even would have noticed the shed was destroyed. Shed? What shed? lol

Damn. I'm glad your dog was ok. Just can't think of my boy getting hurt, especially when entrusted to someone. I had a German Shepard when I was young. Brought him to the vet to stay while I was on vacation. When I got back it was the thing nightmares are made of. Some idiot tried to wash him by themselves. You don't wash a 95 pound dog if you can barely lift them. They put a wire around his neck to keep him in place on the steel table. He got spooked and fell off. Hung himself. I was not ok for almost a year after. I almost went and did something really bad that day.

I remember your story in another thread and it made me think of my story. Glad for you! They are like family to us.
That's a really sad story man.... If your not a dog person its hard to understand... If you are a dog person it isnt difficult at all to understand.

Glad to hear you guys were OK!

Hurricane Jose looks to be a lot less destructive (cat 1) and not predicted to make landfall. So it looks like it's not to bad after-all!

Were alright man... Now we got hurricane Jose out there acting crazy... But Trumps our president so I don't think they will let him in the country.

lol...gonna let that one slide, I aint doin no politiking today....
