Donald Trump running for president

believe it or not but pilate and JESUS are not only biblical but historical also. pilate washing his hands concerning the fate of JESUS is considered a historical fact.

even modern day historians consider most of the bible to be factual.
I've actually read that there is no historical evidence that Jesus even existed.

Can you please point me to the historical evidence about Pilate and Jesus?

It's interesting you should say that. I had a geology professor (who was actually an atheist), who said that the plagues of Egypt could have been caused by certain climate and environmental events, including a volcanic eruption, that likely occurred during the same timeframe. Now, some would say that disproves the whole religious/God aspect of it, but does it? I'm sure God could cause these events if he is all powerful.

I went to a catholic college in the phillipines [st.collumbans] I bought and read a book called Asimov's guide to the old testament just to mess with the nuns-yes, I was THAT GUY, lol....

i guess that professor read the BIBLE....otherwise how would he have even know about the plagues?

if you want scientific explanations to events in the old testament Asimov's book is a good read, interesting if nothing else---it might even be where that professor got his ideas, Asimov was a brilliant guy!!!

Oh, he said that he read the Bible and many other religious texts (various religions). He said he finds them very interesting, but not convincing enough to make him a believer, although he says that he can't disprove God, and therefore doesn't REALLY know.

Resorting to calling black people welfare cases now are we? Oh look, it's Mr Christian warrior breaking one of his Faith's commandments, thou shall not judge thy fellow man lest thee be judged.

I didn't say anything of the sort. I merely posted a funny meme. If you can find anything stating the welfare office was indeed burned down, I'll happily retract and delete it. :)

I am saying they are racists and ignorant for burning down their own neighborhoods. Just like in Baltimore.

There is also historical evidence that he traveled through India and Tibet during his missing un-recorded (by the west) 13 years of his life.

virtually all modern scholars of antiquity agree that JESUS existed historically....this is a quote from wiipedia, maybe not the best source but the only reference I could find...just google Pontius pilate, there are many historical references to him.

sorry, but if you didn't know by now I don't do links....

I can understand that...my personal convictions are based on my own experiences. if I didn't 'believe' in my heart no amount of reading or research would or could ever convince me!!!

I would be surprised if research convinced you of anything, honestly.

And your opinion is always appreciated BigT, even if we don't always agree.

What's a world without different opinions? Someone needs to keep the other half in check :D

the truth is not all will experience a personal encounter with Christ. Those who don't will never know how little they have settled for and those who do will never settle for less.

I firmly believe that...I am blessed that thru my alcoholism I was able to turn my life over to my higher power...GOD works in mysterious ways!!!

BigT, I have a personal and serious question for you and you don't have to answer if you're not comfortable.

I have a close personal friend who's battling with alcoholism, but has started an outpatient program recently as well as getting a therapist. They are still battling though, and I'm losing hope in trying to help them. What did it take for you to finally stay on the wagon yourself? To change your life around?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

ok, but not sure you will like the answer....after many years of trying I went to an AA meeting and met an old black guy named willie who convinced me to turn my life over to a higher power, who for me was GOD. it sounds really simple but looking back it was one of the toughest things I have ever done...quitting drinking was relatively easy compared to totally committing to turning my life over to GOD.

addictions are a bltch...most of us who have managed sobriety while seeing many others fail feel blessed, I know I do. sometimes I get survivors guilt, why did GOD chose me, but I am forever grateful!!!

R.I.P. WILLIE......

Or

“Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.” - trump 1991

Thanks. Yeah that's a tough one for this person in question, but it's definitely powerfully transforming for some people.

Congrats again on getting sober man I know a few others who made it and it makes me hopeful. It's actually the only thing giving me hope for this person now.

I was a problem drinker starting at an early age, I also abused drugs in my youth. things escalated over the years and I attempted to quit many times, I knew I had a problem but the urge to drink was too strong. I would quit for awhile, then think I could handle it and go back...I did this yoyo act for many years until things got to the point where I just didn't feel that drinking was worth all the good things in my life that I was very close to losing, primarily my wife and kids. I have always held a job, I guess I was what they call a functioning alcoholic but my job performance was definitely suffering.

then one Friday night I really tied one on, I woke up the next day and felt like I wanted to die, and I couldn't remember hardly anything from the night before....I sat there on my bed and thought this is not the life I want, so I decided once and for all to quit....I have never looked back, and hardly ever am tempted to drink-all I have to do is tell myself how much better my life is since I quit drinking....I would be remiss if I didn't include willie and GOD, willie convinced me to turn my life over to my higher power [GOD]. I was brought up in the church but wasn't really very religious, it was a struggle to turn my life over to GOD but it was the best decision I have ever made, it saved my life!!!!

thank you willie, I love you man!!! RIP...seriously brought a tear to my eyes typing that....

Ehh, I wouldn't bet money that he didn't say it, but it is still coming from a former employee of his, so I'd consider it possible, maybe even plausible, but I don't see it as FACT.

probably not even as reliable as dick morris....the Clintons must have really pissed old dick off, lol....don't mess with dick!!!

Idk man, he does refer to African Americans as "the blacks" remember when he referred to an African American at his rally as his "black guy"?

I don't know. I think he's just missing a "filter." I'm sure we've all said "black guy" before, but most of us would try not to say it in a formal setting. Trump just doesn't care about that sort of thing it seems. Most people have also made racist jokes/remarks among friends at times, but that doesn't inherently make someone a legitimate full-fledged racist. I'm just not entirely sure on this one. Maybe he really doesn't like black people, I don't know. It's not a Donald Sterling level racist incident though, that's for sure.

what about what dick morris has to say about the Clintons...I remember him back in the bill days, he was a big inside guy...now he is supporting trump and wrote a very nasty book about the insider dealings of the clintons.....

IF he did say he didn't want black people counting his money and that because he's black he's bound to be lazy than yes, it would be a donald(same name, racist illuminati confirmed) sterling level racist incident

That's your defense of trump? Something about Clinton? Weak.

This quote has been floating around the internet for a while, and it should be noted that this is O'Donnell's recollection of what Trump said, not a direct quote in a news report or a transcript of a recording.

And trump said what o donnell said is probably true.

What I'm saying is that we KNOW Sterling said those remarks, we don't KNOW Trump said them for sure. Hasn't Sterling also gotten in trouble, or at least been investigated, due to alleged racist actions or discrimination before? As in racist actions, not just comments?

Not sure if sterling has but trump definitely has

In 1973 Trump Management Corporation was sued by the Justice Department for racial discrimination by not renting to African Americans

Interesting. Links? (I know I'm asking for links/references a lot ITT, but when someone makes a claim like that, it's really on them to back it up IMO).

and Hillary joked about getting a black man off on technicalities for raping a teenaged white girl.

Case summary:

This case was brought against Fred and Donald Trump, and their real estate company, in 1973 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. We are working to obtain the relevant documents. In the meantime, the facts in the summary are from an article by Michael Kranish and Robert O'Harrow Jr. in the Washington Post, Inside the government’s racial bias case against Donald Trump’s company, and how he fought it (Jan. 23, 2016).

In October 1973, the Justice Department filed this civil rights case in federal court in Brooklyn against Fred Trump, Donald Trump, and their real estate company. The complaint alleged that the firm had committed systemic violations of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 in their many complexes--39 buildings, between them containing over 14,000 apartments. The allegations included evidence from black and white "testers" who had sought to rent apartments; the white testers were told of vacancies; the black testers were not, or were steered to apartment complexes with a higher proportion of racial minorities. The complaint also alleged that Trump employees had placed codes next to housing applicant names to indicate if they were black.

The Trumps retained Roy Cohn, former aide to Senator Joseph McCarthy, to defend them; they counter-claimed against the government, seeking $100 million in damages for defamation.

The case was assigned to District Judge Edward R. Neaher. He dismissed the counterclaim and allowed the Fair Housing Act suit to proceed.

After two years, the matter settled with a consent decree, signed June 10, 1975. It included the ordinary disclaimer of liability (the settlement was “in no way an admission” of a violation"), but prohibited the Trumps from "discriminating against any person in the terms, conditions, or privileges of sale or rental of a dwelling." Fred and Donald Trump were ordered to "thoroughly acquaint themselves personally on a detailed basis" with the Fair Housing Act. The agreement also required the Trumps to place ads informing minorities they had an equal opportunity to seek housing at their properties. According to a contemporary article in the New York Times, Trump Management was required to furnish the New York Urban League with a weekly list of all apartment vacancies, for two years; the League would get three days to provide qualified applicants for every fifth vacancy in Trump buildings where fewer than 10 percent of the tenants were black.

The Justice Department called the decree “one of the most far-reaching ever negotiated.” Newspaper headlines echoed that view. “Minorities win housing suit,” said the New York Amsterdam News, which told readers that “qualified Blacks and Puerto Ricans now have the opportunity to rent apartments owned by Trump Management.”

In his autobiography, Donald Trump took a different view: “In the end the government couldn’t prove its case, and we ended up making a minor settlement without admitting any guilt
