White people aren't allowed to be proud of their race. They need to be ashamed of it.. to be "politically correct"
 
If white people didn't have a violent history of being the most oppressive race on the planet, and have such a colonial history of rape, slavery and land theft, then sure all the power to ya. I don't see what's there to be proud about but hey to each their own.

I'll be proud to be American, or Canadian, but I'm not proud of white history and heritage.

I haven't yet, but will soon, but im very familiar with this topic. There is a connection of virus with lots of things as well. I really feel that best medical advancement would be true and effective antiviral that works at the ribosome level. Which in return could be used for all viruses if achieved.

This is bull****. White people are allowed to be proud of their race. It's groups like the KKK and white supremacy groups that cause issues because they want white pride at the expense of other races.

You're kind of taking it to the other extreme, no? You can have pride in yourself and your race without focusing on the bad that others of the same race have done. It's just historically that groups who center around white pride tend to spend all of their time focusing on other races negatively.

Every race, religion, ethnicity, etc has their fair share of things in their histories that they aren't, or at least shouldn't be, proud of. Similarly, there are good and bad people of every race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc. TRUE equality is completely ignoring any of these arbitrary characteristics and treating every person equally. This means no preferential treatment for anyone, as any time you give one person preferential treatment, you are inherently discriminating against someone else.

I think see yourself or others by color is an issue. Just see them as human beings. We are all the same anyways. Why should I or any else be treated better or worse because of skin color when we are all humans?

I don't see it as white history about slavery of the Africans but as human history and every human being should learn from it not just whites

I don't look at it like that. I had no decision in being white....I am white and therefore I am proud to be white...if I were black I would be proud also, but one race or sexual orientation does not own the right to be proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats racist though, just because a group of white people were bad to others doesnt mean I had anything to do with it or other white people had anything to do with it.

This is the big problem, instead of accusing those who do harm, the focus is to bring guilt when there is nothing to feel guilty about. People did harm, not white people.

I am proud to be an american also...even after Obama has done his best to f*ck it up.....in my 57 years I have never seen this country even close to being this divided!!!

What exactly makes you proud then? Can you list the things specially attributed to white culture/history that aren't attributable specifically to anything other than the white race?

And I am not speaking of any type of patriotism here. Honestly curious to what you have to say.

I dont wake up in the morning, walk out the door, look up in the sky and think wow I feel so proud to be white today!

If there is anything Im proud of is my own personal self achievement in life and it has nothing to do with being white.

Now, I never said Im proud to be white. I do bring up the irony on how its great to be proud to be black, but your a racist if your proud to be white to show hypocrisy in society.

I have a mom who raised me as a single mom when it wasn't 'cool' to be a single mom. mom never took a single government handout and my aunt with polio watched me after her shift at the goodwill-my aunt never took government handouts either...my grandparents had 11 kids and they taught my mom and my aunts and uncles values and moral that they passed on to me. I AM VERY PROUD OF MY MOM!!!

I am proud of graduating high school even though I grew up and went to a school where only 30% of us graduated.

I am proud of honorably serving in the navy..

I am proud to be American

I am proud of my wife who after 30 years of marriage and 3 kids still loves me as much as the day we were married

I am proud to be a recovering alcoholic

I am proud that all my life I have worked hard and paid my own way and supported my family with no government handouts

I am proud that after being laid off from international paper after over 20 years I was able to land on my feet and start a family business, WITH NO GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS

most of all I am proud of my children and grandchildren, along with my wife [and sid] they are the loves of my life....

I agree that we are all equal, but race is an issue and will always be an issue. We need to find a way to embrace it and work with it. I only said that each race should be proud of who they are, but not at the expense of others.

Normally I would agree, but this case that just got decided was an odd one. I think the school did the right thing by not letting her in and that is based solely on her academics. It's not like she was a 4.0 student who got booted...hell, even if she had graduated in the top 10% it never would have been an issue.

yes, but the supreme court does not rule on an isolated case....that is now the precedent for all affirmative action cases.

Yeah, I know. It just seemed like a pretty weak case to be the one that represents others, but that's part of the game I guess. Not saying I agree with it, but that's the game.

All of these are great bigT!! Truthfully!

But not of them are attributed to 'the white race' unfortunately. I'm not being condescending either. Truthfully each and every one of us should have many things to be proud of.
 
You see, the difference is that, for example, gay people have to overcome great adversity (hate, bigotry, homophobia, years and years of hate/shame/injustice). They are proud because of the adversity they have overcome (and still to this day must overcome). This is the same for any minority group.
 
I am proud to be Canadian. To be a contributing member of society. To be living in a great country such as America.

I'm proud of everything I've accomplished and overcome. A rough childhood, years and years of grueling college (I was a career student for a while). I am proud that I grew up in the country, lost my father at an early age, didn't have much guidance yet still became the successful person I am today and didn't get trapped in my past.

I have MANY things to be proud of. MANY accomplishments. BUT BEING WHITE IS NOT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. I am proud to be alive and thriving!!

Alot of people have adversity including heterosexuals and white people.

So gays and blacks get a whole month to be celebrated, but white adversity doesnt mean anything and if it did its racist.

How about all the white people that stood up for this country during wwii, vietnam, korean war, iraq war.....they went through real adversity but they get a measly day to be remembered, but gay people and black gets a whole month.

This stuff only fuels division and hypocrisy, its endless. Its sickening.
