Definitely unforgettable. I really feel bad for what his family had to go through, during that whole mess.. and afterwards while he was sick and then passed away. It was such a rollercoaster. Fast rise to infamousness, and quick decline.

I wish I lived close to him...I would welcome the opportunity for him to continue the name calling and personal attacks face to face..it has little to no meaning behind the safety of a computer over the internet.

And I'm not a fraud BigT :) I am still VERY against killing babies and women during wartime or anytime, and I will always stand strongly against people who commit/support war crimes! For any reason!

I'm not sure what else I could be a fraud about? I'm secretly a Republican in disguise? I mean, I've even confessed that I do crossfit in here from time to time, I'm very open about that, and most things lol.. so I'm not a fraud where it comes to lifting either? :confused:

Agreed. I find it insulting to see them equating their struggle in society to an event in history where 7,000 American troops were killed, more than 19,000 injured, and over 18,000 Japanese troops killed. **** that.

No it absolutely doesnt. Remember, its under the 50 stars (or 48 at the time) and stripes that government had giving syhillis to our black soldiers, supported segragation, etc......the flag didnt do anything, its just messed up people. The confederate flag simply represents souther heritage. Its just hypocritical which racist flag you want to label racist, but the truth is its just a flag and its not fair to people who like their flag that had nothing to do with oppression.

I don't want equality. This is reality, everyone is NOT equal. I want equal rights, but not equality.

Neither did our founding founders. It doesn't say, "All men are equal", it says, "All men are born equal".

And it talks about "The Pursuit of Happiness", not "The right of happiness".

This isn't against you, because your message is not necessarily wrong - just a knee jerk reaction to the "equality" thing that I think we often misunderstand as a society.

I disagree on this to a point - because you could use the same argument to show that someone could support the Nazi flag too. It's a matter of how you see things. But I don't take such a huge offense at the confederate flag like I would take an offense at Nazi symbolism. Maybe that's because the confederate flag is still part of my country's history.

And I may be a conservative, but I've read Zinn and I think he makes a good point about how the Civil War was NEVER about slavery. It was about capitalism and industrialism. The slavery thing is just the "myth" that makes people feel good. The truth is, the North was industrializing, and the South was based on cotton fields. Industrialism can't compete with a labor force that works, essentially, for free. So they had to stop slavery in order to prosper economically, and the south had to defend it in order to prosper economically. I mean, look at how the Emancipation Proclamation is worded even, it frees slaves ONLY in the states that had withdrawn from the union. If you hadn't withdrawn, it doesn't apply to you. And if you have withdrawn, well it doesn't apply to you because you are no longer part of the country making the proclamation.

So, it isn't like either flag is all good or all bad.

It is worth noting that one of the most liberal authors out there states that the war wasn't about slavery, it was about industrialism, which relied on capitalism. And since you can't have capitalism without a free working force, you can't have slavery and capitalism - so the war became about that. But the same people who will feel good about freeing the slaves, will bash capitalism without realizing that it was REALLY capitalism that freed the slaves, not a president who cared so much about racial equality.

That's the rebel flag of the south used during the civil war. I do believe there is no longer a civil war. Nor is there a Confederacy. There is only 1 United States of America, and only 1 flag.

Generalized equality doesn't work, unless we live in a utopian society.
