That’s what we all did! We are quite used to getting **** on for many years, so it’s not like we were expecting anything worth even $5 for Christmas. The funny thing is that they announced it by email like 2 weeks ago that our Christmas presents were on the way. We just received them today!
If you can’t tell, I would never recommend to anyone to get involved in healthcare. Especially in a hospital setting.
I think I heard/saw the same timeframe in general for vaccine availability. Last I looked, I think each state has a tiered timeline based on vulerabilty/exposure. Yes, I would say a week or two after Christmas we will see our largest spike yet in hospitalizations, and a lockdown seems looming.
Let’s face it, people are going to be gathering with family even much more so than at Thanksgiving. I’m certainly still having Christmas....we will be less than 10 people that are all in my personal bubble anyway. Christmas is kind of non-negotiable for me as well as many families for sure.
Nonetheless, it’s going to be be a disaster starting early January!

I am afraid of picking this up at work and passing it to my 12 week old, you’re right (before you come up with some ignorant **** like “you shouldn’t of had a kid” - it occurred pre-covid). I have seen people come in with oxygen saturations in the low 80s, breathing rapidly and shallow telling me it feels like theres a 100 lb weight resting on the front of their chest, with fear in their eyes staring straight into mine asking me to make it stop. Perhaps your situation gives you a different perspective, one more removed from the reality and gravity of the situation at hand.
I’m all for individual freedoms from the government, but you may as well start trying to come to terms with the fact an employer can and will require you to get it and wrongful termination suits against the employer after you refuse are rarely successful.

I think the most critical point is that if the government is going to spend tax payers' money, it should be for the benefit of the tax payers, not for people who are here illegally, their families, or foreign countries. If the payment is $0, $600, $2000 or $10,000 - I care less about the number than where the money is being used. The number is important too, don't get me wrong, but how it is spent is a more important factor to me.
I think, as much as people rail against Trump, he sees the American people are getting screwed and standing up. If they increase the payment to $2,000 they either have to cut programs or increase the overall spending budget, and a higher budget hasn't flown at all. He is being wise in creating a positive path to cutting out all the fat without making the argument about whether or not we should help foreigners.

As I was speaking about before, low mortality rates and statistics give people a sense that the China virus isn’t a big deal, but that doesn’t change the fact that what hospitals and their staff are going through isn’t sustainable. Let’s not forget that hospitals had significant challenges even before the virus. Something has to change, and relatively quickly.
It’s very easy for the general public to have a more abstract perspective of the virus. It’s kind of like ignoring a war that is going on because it doesn’t directly impact yourself....unless of course you contract a problematic case of it, or have lost your business/job. Otherwise, working remotely from home and wearing a mask when you shop for groceries doesn‘t put people out of their way that much.
My GF is is one of those people who are lucky enough to have such a job. In fact, many people in my family are. Am I jealous of them....you better believe it! If the vaccine, or numbers of people being vaccinated is insufficient to make an impact on the healthcare system, I will be considering my options in getting out of the hospital after the holidays.

Ive mentioned this before but the first thing they did here in NY was unregulated the hospitals and allowed them to expand capacity.
In a free-market system the hospitals can react to meet market demands, however it is at its current state illegal to do so....they had to wait for the bureaucracy of government to allow them to do so.
Then of course all the regulations put in place for localities to respond in a crisis, its impossible for anybody to respond until they are told they can and then its too late.
Im not saying that covers all the problems but its something us tinfoil hat people rail against government inter-meddling with our medical system. The fact is, if there is a crisis it is a crime to react without approval.
