Donald Trump running for president

Maybe he just didn’t think he’d get caught? What are the odds? I heard one person say that some people think that maybe he thought he’d be less likely to be recognized at a place like that than if he hired a “classier” service to his home or to a fancy hotel where it’d be more likely for someone to figure out or notice who he is. That they could blackmail him with it easier. Maybe that’s BS, I can’t put myself in his mind. Maybe he thought the more likely risk was being blackmailed and/or caught by someone like the press than being caught in a bust. Maybe he really didn’t know about trafficking and thought that it’d be so low on anyone’s radar that a sting wasn’t even on his mind? Or maybe he wasn’t thinking with the right head at all?

maybe he just thought it wasn't a big deal?

He was wearing a baseball hat in disguise so he had all his bases covered...or were they all uncovered????

Lol. The only reason he got made was they happened to bust the place. He probably never even considered that. He was probably more worried about being recognized than arrested haha.

see that is what bothers me about this story. they have made this about a prominent/recognizable person like kraft getting busted for paying for sex.....the REAL story seems to be secondary.

sex for money is really no big deal, the human trafficking should be the headliner, imo.

The fact that the police had to go to the podium and make an announcement about Kraft is suspicious. Its politically motivated, at minimum self promotion of the department. If the unconfirmed report of that "bigger name" is true and the police announced Kraft but not this dude Id say something really went down.....or maybe this bigger name had so much political power that it didnt make sense for them to go pubic with it and risk the consequences. This is really interesting to me.

I heard that a local police spokesperson said they were unaware of any bigger names than Kraft, and it’d be a surprise to them. But that could just be a strategic statement, as what constitutes a bigger name can be subjective I suppose. We’ll see.

they do a presser about kraft who is nothing more than a john and all the media wanted to know about is kraft...who are the traffickers, were they even mentioned?

plus I think the media plays a role also, Hispanics seem more sympathetic for liberals than Europeans or Asians-at least they are more newsworthy for liberals and their war on trump?

I don't disagree with that, but I think Trump uses them for sympathy as well right back at the liberals. It's an easier sell for him if he focuses on the women getting raped or the kids dying than if he just focuses on the group as a whole. If he makes it more about protecting everybody, then it's easier to bring in voters from the middle.

at least the media got smurffie and r,kelly out of the headline, lol.

That R Kelly story is driving me nuts. Everybody knew what was going on for the longest time. I went to high school with girls who slept with him while we were still in high school. It took a damn Lifetime movie to finally get the DA off of their ass when they should have done it back in the 90s.

Emergencies Do Not Trump the Constitution

Written by Ron Paul
Monday February 25, 2019

After Congress rejected President Trump’s request for 5.7 billion dollars for the border wall, the president declared a national emergency at the southern border. Present Trump claims this “emergency” gives him the authority to divert funds appropriated for other purposes to building the border wall.

President Trump’s emergency declaration is not just an end run around Congress. It is an end run around the Constitution. Article One of the Constitution gives Congress sole authority to allocate federal funds.

While President Trump’s order may be a particularly blatant abuse of power, it is hardly unprecedented. Most modern presidents have routinely used so-called national emergencies to expand their power, often at the expense of liberty. For example, Present Franklin Delano Roosevelt used “emergency powers” to justify internment of Japanese-Americans during World War Two.

President Trump, like other recent presidents, is relying on the 1976 National Emergencies Act for legal justification for his emergency declaration. This act gives the president broad powers to declare national emergencies for almost any reason. All the president need do is inform Congress he has declared an emergency. Once the emergency is declared, the president simply needs to renew the declaration once a year to maintain a state of emergency. Since this act passed, 59 emergency declarations have been issued, with 31 of those still in effect.

Another statute giving the president broad “emergency” powers is the Defense Production Act. Under this law, the president can force private businesses to produce goods for the military. The law also enables the president to impose wage and price controls and even make loans to private businesses. All a president need do to invoke these vast powers is submit “findings” to Congress that “national security” requires the president seize near-dictatorial control of certain industries or even the entire economy. According to the Congressional Research Service, some presidents have invoked the Defense Production Act without making the required findings to Congress, and the act has been used to justly federal interference in areas having little or nothing to do with national defense.

Section 606(c) of the Communications Act gives the president “emergency” power to seize control of every television network, radio station, smartphone, laptop, and other electronic devices.

Emergency powers are not the only means by which presidents violate the Constitution. The 2001 authorization for use of military force (AUMF), which only authorizes the president to use force against those responsible for the September 11 attacks, has been used to justify military interventions that have no relationship to those attacks. The 2001 AUMF has been used to justify mass surveillance, indefinite detention, and even “kill lists.” Fortunately, Representative John Garamendi has introduced the Walter B. Jones Restoring Power to Congress Act that would pay tribute to a true champion of peace by repealing the 2001 AUMF.

Many neoconservatives and progressives who defended prior presidents’ abuses of power are critical of President Trump’s emergency declaration. These “never-Trumpers” will no doubt resume their love affair with the imperial presidency when the Oval Office is again occupied by someone who shares their agenda.

This week, the House of Representatives will vote on a resolution terminating President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency. Hopefully, this precedent will be used against all future presidents who use spurious claims of national emergencies to expand their powers and shrink our liberties.

ocasio-cortez questions whether it is MORAL for young people to have children due to climate change...

I saw this coming!!!

I wish her parents had made a different choice.

didn't the woman in charge of family planning in china brag about forced abortions as china's contribution to climate change?

I never heard of anything like that or was aware of her, but damn forced abortions in China can be brutal.

She does know that the only other choice is the extinction of the human race, right? Or should only the ruling class political elite be allowed to have children?

I think even several democrats have called her out. She makes Old Man Sanders look economically literate, and Elizabeth Warren and Cory “Spartacus” Booker look sane. I’ve heard she’s actually a Republican plant to get Trump re-elected in 2020. But she was still elected by some (insane) people, so who knows.

I've heard a lot of dems are afraid to call her out... from what I understand she has a pretty impressive social media following and the youngsters are smitten with her.

I guess she’s polarizing, even among liberals. It’s like every day she one-ups herself. It’s actually almost impressive how she can keep outdoing herself. She makes Palin look like the love-child of Einstein and Hawking.

And the power has gone to her head so quickly, probably because there’s no brain in there lol.

she seems to like attention, I think she has figured out the more off the wall she is, the more attention she gets.

lol...the palin comparison is a good one!!! kamala harris is another...

She loves attention and that's part of the system she has figured out on how to use it to her advantage. She says some insane things, but she's not an idiot and I wouldn't underestimate her. When she's attacked, she's pretty good at turning the fight around quickly.

She’s great at deflecting, but she’s awful at actually responding to criticism in any meaningful way, but when has anyone ever cared if politicians are accurate or actually respond relevantly to criticism?

If she’s not an idiot, then neither is Trump. He’s also used the system to gain attention to his advantage. So if AOC is not actually an idiot but just playing the game, then so is Trump. And as far as actual policy statements and proposals, AOC’s trump Trump’s in terms of sheer stupidity and impossibility, not that means I support a lot of the things Trump does/says of course. They can both have asinine ideas.

She’s proposed a “Green New Deal” that is impossible in scope, had to have the official post about it on her site taken down, asked if it’s moral to have children because of climate change, said she doesn’t care about being factually correct, only morally correct, etc. Maybe she’s not actually an idiot, but everything she says and proposes is incredibly asinine, so I’ll judge her by her actions and statements, not conjecture about her motives. But I will agree that she shouldn’t be underestimated or dismissed. We don’t generally elect the most economically literate and realistic politicians haha.

She celebrated Amazon leaving NYC because she would rather put the 3 billion tax dollars into the communities and rebuilding them....yet this 3 billion dollars doesnt even exist it was just an incentive on 27 billion in revenue that Amazon was going to bring to the city that will never been seen now because of people like her.

She is either a deceptive devil paid by someone or just absolutely insane.

You don't want an Amazon HQ in your region, trust me. Build a distribution center and get jobs that way. I live the effects of an HQ everyday here in Seattle. 27 billion in revenue is an imaginary number while 2 bedroom 1 bath houses are pushing a million bucks. Local businesses see increased revenue, but the workers now have to drive 2 hours to get to their crap pay job because they can no longer afford housing.

That’s a fair argument. But a Green New Deal that would cost $600k/household over the next ten years is indefensible:
https://www.americanactionforum.or...tually proposed this dumpster fire is insane.

And when people criticize it she says:

“Yup. If you don’t like the #GreenNewDeal, then come up with your own ambitious, on-scale proposal to address the global climate crisis.

Until then, we’re in charge - and you’re just shouting from the cheap seats.”

“On-scale?” The scale is part of the problem. And if I tell you not to light a dumpster fire, I have to suggest some alternative waste on the same scale instead?

Personally, I thought it would make far more sense to have Amazon up in the Capital Region around Albany where alot of tech businesses have already been setting up shop. There is ALOT of room for development such as housing and they also have an international airport.

I get what your saying, from the perspective of a nearby local in NYC around the development site or further out, Amazon would scare the crap out of me if I was lower to middle class.

Actually a couple weeks ago I was driving on the other side of the river in Jersey and saw a massive place with a lot of Amazon Prime trailers. NYC probably won’t get that.

NYC is in such trouble they want to charge people $12 in tolls just for driving into congested areas in Manhattan which they will vote for on April 1st among other schemes such as extra fees on every taxi, Uber, etc....charging a premium that goes all to the city just for being in conjestion.

I’m glad I don’t live there, parking is a nightmare too.

I have to go there pretty often and one of my clients is right in the middle of Times Square for some horrible reason. I always just fly into Newark and take the train because it's easier and I'm not even taking cost into account since I'm not paying.

Newark is my favorite of the 3 airports. TSA is a little friendlier too for some reason, less attitudes. Don’t have to drive through heavy traffic either from upstate which is horrible feeling when your trying to catch a plane.

May I ask what it is you do? I have a feeling it was something pharmaceutical but I never asked before. If prefer not say skip the question I totally understand :)

manila is the largest city I've ever been to[land mass and population]. even though I was unfamiliar with the city I had no problem navigating from one end to the other. it was relatively more expensive than olongapo where I lived but the restaurants and hotels were much better quality and still very cheap compared to American equivalent. it probably helped that I was semi-conversant in tagalog.

once upon a time I wanted to visit NYC...:friday:

Oh I can say, it just keeps getting more complicated to explain as I take more on lol. Easiest answer is consulting for pharma companies. We put the companies in touch with the relevant physicians they need to impress and then tell them what they need to do to get their drug approved or to sell more if it's already approved. I have to do a lot of education too, so medical writing like if a doc is giving a talk at a conference, I'm the one that has to make their presentation while dealing with marketing people who want me to put a ton of things into the presentation and legal who wants me to do the opposite. I like it because it's constantly changing and challenging. Plus I can do it from anywhere that has an internet connection and reasonable distance to an airport.

NYC is pretty incredible, besides it costing you your life savings there is so much history and architecture here. You can walk down the streets and see the incredible well development of the early 1900's you cant get many other places. There is so much to do there its mind-blowing. Going through subway tunnels built 120 years ago is incredible, but thats just me.

Outside of politics, I absolutely love NYC. Really, you can get along with alot of good interesting people there, its not like the internetz and forumz where we all get to vent what we normally wont dare face to face, lol

I love how you can go to various countries such as Chinatown (currently there are 3 big ones,) little italy, Koreatown (small but very jampacked street in the middle of manhatten,) etc.....so rich in culture.

You should go if you can, be well organized and rob a bank first, lol.

I make a good living, but I want your expense account, lol. I've heard NYC is expensive as hell!!!

There are worse ways to live, but it also sounds way more glamorous than it is. It's usually airport, hotel, back to airport. I've been to San Francisco like 6 or 7 times now and have never seen the Golden Gate Bridge lol. NYC is expensive, but I'd say it's pretty close to any other major city for food and hotel costs. I can't imagine bringing an entire family there for a trip and what that would cost.

I guess you can take your family and have swedish meatballs at Ikea in brooklyn in the middle of Industrial Park. Show your membership card and you all and your kids get a free cup for unlimited coffee.

Worst Ikea Ive ever seen.

Ikea in Beijing sells hard liquor and booze inside their Swedish grocery mart, pretty awesome even though Im not into that. They even have a separate coffee bar on the outside.

It's a sad day when I have to agree with something Rick Santorum says. Otto Warmbier was a US citizen and Trump sold him out to try and make another deal that he failed on.
