Does the FDA require doctor appointments every 4 months for TRT?

My TRT doctor's secretary recently told me that I have to do labs and an office visit (or phone consult) every 4 months because the "FDA now requires it". Sounded like bull**** to me and I cant find anything about that on the internet. My levels are stable and I have been on TRT for 9 years, so going more then once a year is a waste of money. Has anybody else heard this?

That’s BS man. I go to an integrative medicine office and they specialize in hormone replacement, as other medical areas. I only get labs once a year now. I started out every three months for the first two years.

or the four years and many doctors appointments, Doctors want you to come every three months. its is required? no

I got my doctor to do once every six months.

In short no Once a year is fine for trt and bloodwork, they just renew your script.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was pretty sure that was BS, but I wanted to be sure before I go to my next appointment and tell the doctor that her secretary/appointment maker is lying to patients. She is the best TRT doc I have been able to find, but if she insists on appointments every 4 months, I will have to find a new doc. There are surprisingly few options in the Chicago area.

It’s not uncommon to go every 3-4 months in the beginning of TRT. It’s very important to do so because the labs and how you’re feeling is what the dr is going to use to tweak your protocol. After about a year the dr should cut back to 6 months, then eventually once a year. Maybe the secretary was confused or just a dumba$$. Who knows!

Agreed ever 6 weeks for the first 1-2 times then it can be spaced out to once or twice a year. Doctors I have worked with require one yearly visit. This is fair for physical examination and to meet the patient. I prefer to see people in office as it helps to create a connection and relationship. The stuff people tell you in person is unbelieve. The couple today had a very interesting sexual relationship that made it very let’s say “interesting”. The female partner definitely reinforced her talents..
