Descent on bench has been feeling pretty rough lately on my left bicep/shoulder, thanks to all the swimming. The press on 265 felt easier than the descent and pause, which is usually the exact opposite. Didn't go for 285 like planned today.

I was being conservative, but that number you mentioned kept creeping into my head. I was taking into consideration the first two attempts. I think 250 is yours for the taking.

I've been going by a recent Lilly video where he said he won't cut unless he is gonna break a record of something. He said some thing like "I'd rather lift the most weight I possibly could as opposed to the most I could at this weight."

I'm gonna go get my ass kicked in the 220's in December. Granted if I thought I could win the 198's I'd drop(maybe).

I ramble. Kick ass at your comp man. I look forward to seeing how you make out.

181 was the original plan since there was more competition down there, but I had the same exact thought; I won't break any records and I rather put up a big total.
 
473/501/551 all good, 1 red each on depth.

Went 264/286xx on bench, zero lockout and erector cramps.

540/584/617 smoked em all.

Thanks guise, wish I had performed on the bench and the deadlift makes me realize I need to train on the meet bars more often to get a feeling for it, I wasted an attempt on my opener. Could have gone 585/617/639...

Well, your arms are crazy long and you've got nothing but time to figure out what's gonna work for you. I really frickin like that singlet, too. The high-cut back makes your back look all jacked. The jacked-ness of your back also probably helps with that, maybe a little.

EDIT: I see the judging was strict again, too. How your first two squats got any reds is beyond me. Pause was a little more reasonable though, lol.

lol I like to think my back is just a little jacked...my good buddy gave me that for my first meet, it's a euro cut. Starting to get faded after 6 meets in it...

This well become my competition grip I am hoping, I went as wide as it took to keep my forearms vertical off the chest, which is 3-4" wider than my normal grip.

I have great speed off the chest, just need more lockout.

I plan to keep this grip and cycle between top-end lifts like floor press, reverse band, and slingshot. I'll warm up full ROM pause bench each time to 225, do AMRAP without failing, then add in the extra resistance.
