Do I need to see a special Dr.?

I've suspected I have low test for a little while now, and after goin through this link and reading their article, as well as reading other artcles and information, I am really suspecting it.

My question is do I need to see a special Dr. that deals with this sort of thing, or do all Dr.'s know what they're doing with HRT? Will my regular Dr. be fine?
 
Most GP's do not know much about it. But some are informed depends on the Dr. Urologist's and Endrocronologists have more experience although many of them do not see it hat often. It can be tough finding a good hrt Dr.
 
Any GP can prescribe the bloodwork required to get the facts about your body chemistry.

INITIAL LABWORK

Following a good Medical History, which laboratory assays should be run as part of your initial hypogonadism workup? Following is my list, but certainly other specialists in this area run expanded or attenuated panels, per their experience and expertise. Of note, there are several other tests which should be included to complete the true comprehensive Anti-Aging Medicine workup (i.e. homocysteine, fasting insulin, comprehensive thyroid study, etc.), as this chapter is concerned solely with administering TRT. And as always, the panel is tailored to the individual patient. Here they are:

• Total Testosterone
• Bioavailable Testosterone (AKA “Free and Loosely Bound”)
• Free Testosterone (if Bioavailable T is unavailable)
• DHT
• Estradiol (specify the Extraction Method, or “sensitive” assay for males)
• LH
• FSH
• Prolactin
• Cortisol
• Thyroid Panel
• CBC
• Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
• Lipid Profile
• PSA (if over 40)
• IGF-1 (if HGH therapy is being considered)

Many doctors are still on the fence about hormone replacement therapy, if they even know about it in the first place. remember, hrt involves replacing the male hormone testosterone and in some cases, HGH.

there is a lot of bad press on HGH and steroids at the moment and many doctors would rather wash their hands of the situation and completely stay away from prescribing it, doctors have gotten into hot water of prescribing these substances before (both for legit and illegitmate reasons)

Have your doctor give you a blood test, and then refer you to an endocrinologist. If your testosterone is low the endo will put you on an HRT program in all likelihood. If he wont, have your doctor refer you to someone else.

try looking up local anti-aging clinics in the area. You will have no problem whatsoever obtaining HRT if you are able to find one.
 
See the thing is I'm 21, so I'm pretty young. I'm not sure how the Dr. is gonna feel about that.

My main issue is having no energy, being tired all the time and ED. It's not just ED with girls either, but even with myself I have a hard time maintaining an erection. These are supposed to be the best years of my life but with every girl I meet that has capability to be something other than friends, my ED problem pops up in my head.
 
Blood tests will show it all. Its not the age that counts, it the testosterone levels. That is what it should be, in any case.

you need to make sure you find a doctor with an open mind. Many doctors will look at your age and immediately write you off an a candidtate for HRT. I know it is wrong, but most of these doctors are more worried about protecting their asses then giving what they know is proper treatment.

i had the same problem after a ****ty m1t post cycle therapy. go get your hormone levels checked out and then we will see where we can go from there.

you may want to run a post cycle therapy regimine in order to bring up your natural levels (AFTER you get your levels checked out). This is what i had to and it fixed things right up. going on HRT at 21 will be permament and expensive. there will be no need for HRT if you can jumpstart your endocrine system.

Get the bloodwork and results evaluated before jumping the gun. There are many issues that can cause the symptoms of tiredness and ED. Yes, low testosterone is one, but until you prove that is the case then it is all speculation. Good luck.

No I don't feel depressed. I had seasonal depression for a couple winters in a row a few years back, but I don't feel like I'm depressed now. No high blood pressure and no medications.

Do you think I should just run the post cycle therapy right now, or would it be better to get the levels back first? As far as PCT goes, what do you think I should use?

I ran a cycle of Halodrol back in February and used an ATD only PCT. I used Novedex XT and Rebound XT. It's possible that my PCT messed my levels up, but thinking back to before the cycle I still didn't really have all that much of a sex drive, and I still didn't have that much energy.

if you even think you should see your doctor first, the answer is yes.

This could also be brought on by high levels of prolactin. See your GP first. Most insurance companys require a referral to specialist (urologist, endocrineologist) by a general practitioner before they will pay.
Your family doc should be able to do all of the bloodwork to get things started.

Never use anything you can buy over the counter for PCT. Now you know why. You owe it to the boards you surf to tell other people the same thing.
If you aren't going to use things like HCG, real clomid or nolvadex, don't use anything.
Proviron will help with the ED also, but I would wait on that until bloodwork is done.
