DMSO and isopropyl?

Saw the thread from back in 2009 discussing use of pregnenolone transdermal.

Forgive my lack of chemistry understanding, but...
1) is it safe to combine DMSO and isopropyl for use in something that is applied to the skin? What's stopping the DMSO from carrying the isopropyl into the bloodstream? and
2) would ethanol be suitable to dissolve pregnenolone instead of isopropyl?

Again, sorry I'm not more of a scientist, but thought I'd ask anyway.

never good to use isopropyl (or any alcohol) in transdermal, it will dry your skin out which in long run will decrease absorption.
