I've read conflicting information on its ability to increase endurance and recovery. I have friends who race Greyhounds that swear by it, but it's all annecdotal. If anyone with knowledge could chime in I'd appreciate it.

DMG was an ingredient that was popular when I first started in the industry which was a long time ago. It was debatable if it really helped in humans even back then, but some runners swore by it at the time.

If it does help at all, its time has long since passed by and there are a lot of things that help now more than it does in humans.

You're welcome.

When I first started in the industry I worked in a brick and mortar and a super nice older man used to come in and get it and he ran marathons and was in incredible shape for any age, but it always stood out to me because he was older and just a wonderful person. We kept the Foodscience brand DMG in stock just for him.

DMG could be considered a naturally occurring adaptogen, as it plays a role in optimizing many bodily (and brain) functions. Personally, I feel the mechanism is its ability to donate methyl groups, optimizing the process of methylation. You'll see it lower homocysteine on your bloodwork, for example.

However, TMG aka Tri-Methyl-Glycine is the better compound here - especially insofar as methylation is concerned. There's also a lot more evidence for its performance enhancing effects. Higher IGF-1 levels, optimal cell hydration and even lowering cortisol. Given its cost to benefit ratio (and much better availability, vs DMG), it's likely your best option..
