Notes
Great day felt strong, box squat were difficult went in think 315 but went up to 300 felt it was a bit much so cut it back a bit so I could get my set in. I can tell these are going to help just by how hard it was to get out of the bottom

Deadlift is till explosive feel really good lately the 315 for 15 was a challenge given to me probably could have muscle fu*ked up another 2 but 15 was the bet lol

Rest is my usual stuff

Thanks for reading
Dmax

I remember my first time trying to get off the box thinking "Why is this so hard?"

I remember my first time trying to get off the box thinking "Why is this so hard?"

Exactly
Edit: doesn't help when u have to walk the weight make sure your even I would have some sets that felt better then others just on the how I was able to get out

herderdude
Should I be doing more tops set with the deficits or am I doing it as we discussed

It's up to you, bud. Maybe build up with 2-3 top sets to get your volume on and as you add weight If it gets to a point where you can't get rep #5 on set 3, then drop it and so on. So say...

Week 1 365x3x5
Week 2 375x5,5,4
Week 3 385x2x5 (last one grinds)
Week 4 395x5
Week 5 405x5 balls out max
Week 6 415x3x3
7 425x3
...
Week 10 455x2 or whatever
And so on. Throw some deload type stuff on days you don't feel up to it or make the jumps smaller. That's just your standard Western Periodization/progressive overload scheme. Worked awesome for Sean's bench. You've been at it long enough to know how to tweak it. Just do like Wendler and start light, add slow, and reload more often than you think You need to.

Thanks for the input I was feeling like I wasn't getting enough work in.im going to start that next week

Lots of times I hit multiple sets on my supplemental pull, but sometimes I know it isn't there. Usually it's two sets for me. It's too hard to hit three hard sets, but one isn't enough work. Then again, sometimes one is enough work. You have to be painfully honest with yourself and know when it's time for brains and when it's time for balls. Like this last weekend for you!

So Leah came to train with us over the weekend what an incredible lifter
Not shown in the video she benched 195 and 225 for 2 doubles with the slingshot

Thats a difficult position to be in where do u spot, just can't be in that mode of thinking your there to train and support

So I want to know what is everyone's goal this year total's, weights per lift etc.

I'll go first
First thing is to remain healthy in life and lifting
Next is to maintain below a 220 bw
Total: would like to see an official total between 1250-1350 (currently 1120)
Last to hit weights of as follows
Squat-550 in wraps
Bench-350
Deadlift-560

I feel these are all very achievable and realistic goals

So let's hear it fellas what are u look for next year u can even post it in your logs if u want a record

Get better overall fitness. I like being strong, but need to be fit/look good too.
BW: 165-170

Lifts:
Squat 350+ with wraps
Bench 250+
Dead 500+

Total over 1000 at a meet

Squat: 705
Bench: 512
Deadlift: 661

Staying in the 220 weight class with maybe a slight increase in my walk around weight since I was able to make weight with minimal effort beyond low carb and cutting water the last 16 hours.

Holy cow man that's some weight I wish u all the luck in your training

Great idea DMax...off the top of my head

-stay as healthy as possible
-get the total around 1250 or so with wraps
-squat 405 wrapless/430+ with
-bench 300-315
-Deadlift 500-525 range

Haven't really thought about the other lifts too much but for example if love a 185 strict OHP and a 200+ push press. Id like to get close to like a 275 or so front squat.

I would also like to do 2 competitions this year. The only caveot is the fact I have a baby coming soon so that may hinder some training depending on if this one likes sleep lol

Good luck to everyone in their goals. Everyone seems to have very realistic goals based off the logs.

Another baby Gratz man.
My kids are the greatest joy in my life, wife then lifting in that order lol.
You got those weights all day keep getting stronger and stronger every week

I'll add I'd like to OHP 185+ as well

Fuxk!! Completely forgot the most important part: STAY HEALTHY!!! Good call, Rob.

I know it's part of the game, but not having an injury to work on for a decent part of the year would be fantastic lol

Nice topic dmax!

I was gonna post my goals in my log but here's some of them:
Main-
Improve scapular stability
450/265/475 beltless in meet/mock meet
500/275/525 in a meet (w/ belt)

Side/fun-
Run sub 6:00 mile (no idea what reasonable mile improvements are haha)
30 MU in under 2:30
20 pull ups and 20 hspu in single set
365 Front Squat

My goals:

Raw
635 or so squat
Finally get that ****ing 405 bench
635 deadlift

Equipped
Master or at least become competent in the squat. Nab up 7+
Mid 5s bench
600-some deadlift
1925 total for elite at 220.

Overall, quit being a fat guy and stabilize my bodyweight in shouting distance of 220 for easier cuts. Also to keep my body functional and find a way to improve my squat and bench at the same time. Do 60+ pullups in a session, pull 600 equipped sumo and 545 raw sumo.

I hadn't really thought up my goals until just now. I'm more of a short term goal guy who takes the numbers that come to me.

Squat 500+ in sleeves
Bench 385
Dead 550+
OHP 225
Front squat 405

Hard to follow this up... Lol.

But hopefully hit a meet this year get 1200+ immediate goals are 405/275/495, then just hopefully get to something like 440/300/535 by years end. Want to learn to low bar squat and get that bodyweight OHP.

U are all determined and amazing lifters and I hope the new year grants you all what wish to accomplish

Best of luck my friends and have a safe and incident free new year
