different styles of cardio

Hey guys,

so up till now i have only experimented with long distance running and intervals for my cardio. i have been reading a lot into other styles of cadrio and have a lot of questions. What are the ways yall do your cardio? For example HIIT...what does HIIT stand for and how does it work or whats an axample routine for HIIT?

Thanks everyone for your input. I will be using it to find what works best for me.

For me I will alternate. So one cardio session I will do some sprints, the fan bike(idk if that's the exact name), burpees ect. and I call that my HIIT. Then I will do steady state cardio on the treadmill, bike rower or stairstepper other days.

I have used various types ...HIIT can be done multiple ways but it's basically intervals just done at a higher intensity. The timing can vary. You can google search for routines laid out for you! I have done tabata as well which is intervals done for 20 seconds on and 10 seconds rest repeated for 4 mins, resting 1 min and repeating. That can be done with machines or exercises like burpees, jumping rope, lunges etc.

Currently, I am doing more of a conditioning for cardio. Some days are shuttle runs...some days are medicine ball exercises, some days are barbell complexes etc! I enjoy switching it up! Cardio can become quite a chore!

Just adding my two cents.
I really enjoy loaded carry cardio. For example. Take a heave bag and carry overhead 30-50 yards, drop it go to heavy bag and do rapid strikes X 100, then hit the ground and knock out 20-25 knee hugs. Repeat without rest X 10 sets. It's a quick finisher and takes like 15 min or so and you're dead after. Also farmers walk and partner firemans carry. We also have a keg loaded with sand to do yolk and overhead carries.
Anyway, also on other days we will do moderate weight barbell complexes with Olympic lifts for mod reps (10) X 8 exercises switching back between upper and lower body. Those are killer. Dumbbell complexes are also a favored cardio. These can help with muscle retention during cutting and help with strength by developing explosive speed.

there is debate over what type of cardio is best for what goal but for most people the best cardio is the cardio you will do

Anything over 8 reps is cardio for me.

yes, you have to find something you enjoy. since this is football season, just jump on the treadmill and watch till halftime or end of game. it's good for at least 75 minutes and if the game is good you forget all about the exercise...

I like doing hiit on treadmill to be honest. I do 200 cals on a treadmill I do a min full out then 2 mins break of jogging or walking til I reach 200 cals or 150 no lower than that though and only 2x a week
