Has any of you used this bar ? Also do you think it takes away back work and put more work on the legs? Tell me your thoughts on this bar!

I've used something like it (an old school version of it). I don't know about putting more tension on the legs, but it forces you into better deadlift form.

My workout partner is crying about his bloody shins ! :D That 's what made me interested in this bar. Thanks Sheesh for your input. Now I'm really interested!! Any body else?

I've never used one but it looks like it might help give better form and would help you keep your balance better. dont know...just a coupla things I'd expect.

btw...shinguards are alot less expensive..heh :D

there are many differant forms of it. some go lower some have raised grips. but they are tarffic if you want to dead lift and not put as much strain on your back. also good for shrugs!

I have used Trap Bars a number of times and it is SOOOO much easier than regular Bar Bell Deads. I just found the one in my school's weight room :D ...time to get thick :p

LG.

Very Helpful Guys !!

msclbldrguy Ya the shin guards would be cheaper! :D Also I agree balance would be a whole lot better . Dez/null I didn't even think about doing shrugs with it. That makes it even better. Hell ya Lifeguard use that baby and grow. Thank you all for your input on this bar so far. I am really thinking about buying it. Any body else use this bar before ?

Hey Van,
Just change the bmp into a jpeg so that everyone could see it without downloading it.. hope you didnt mind

yeh ive used one before, except it wasnt quite the same. same concept and everything, except it was just a diamond shaped bar, kinda hard to describe. heres a drawing.

yeah drfly, thats the same kind of bar my school has

its called a "Hex Bar" or something to that effect

LG.

yeah i like em, they take the stress off my back pretty well during heavy deadlifts, they're nice to have.

hammerstrength makes a machine thats similar to it which can be used as a deadlift, shrug, lunge machine. With the handles to the side of the legs, one must squat down to grip the bar and deadlift up. Not too popular for deadlifting but every kid goes over to it to shrug. Sage

that bar in your picture is kick a**, I ve used the hex before and they are great - just wish my gym would get one - except if we did we would probably have some dumb ass in doing curls with it

sad part about it is you are prolly right..but u gotta admit it would be entertaining watchin someone try to do curls witha hex bar...heh

In Beyond Brawn Stuart McRobert recommends using the "hex bar" for deadlifts and shrugs he also calls in the "Trap Bar" which I think is the correct name for it.

Ordered it !

Well I ordered that bar . Caught it on sale this month for $101.00 what I saved will pay for the shipping. I figure If I don't like it for deadlifts I can use it for shrugs and lunges and my partner can use it for his deadlifts so he won't have bloody shins anymore. Good for more variety. Thank you all I really appreciated all your info. & thoughts on this bar. When I get it and use it I'll post my experience and thoughts on this bar.

I personally dont like em. Ive got pretty wide shoulders but that bar makes me hang my arms out at more of an angle than I prefer...ok for shrugs, but I cant stand deadlifting with one.
