D-limonene, DMSO & PS80 added to Phlojel?

I've read posts here from folks who like to use d-limonene, DMSO or PS80 when compounding test cream using Phlojel.
When I searched the archives, I found that a ratio of 1ml of DMSO to 1g of test powder should be used to end up with a cream that is perfectly smooth and free of flakes.
Would others agree with this?
I have not been able to find out what ratio should be used when using d-limonene or PS80 instead of DMSO.
I will be compouding a batch of 10% test cream soon and want to make sure that it comes out free of flakes/grits and does not leave an annoying white residue on the skin.
If anyone could assist, I would appreciate it.
 
I'm just a rookie myself but from what I've learned from B5150, it's the same ratio for any solvent. 1ml per 1 gram.
 
My experience is limited to a couple solvents. ISO dries too quickly and you would need at least a 1:1 ratio in IMO. PEG400 got too pastie at less than 1:1 ratio and at 1:1 it was just workable. With the DMSO a 1:1 was very wet. I could probably have used less DMSO but becasue it is also a PE I wanted it to be at 10% of my compound.

I imagine that the ideal ratio may vary from androgen to androgen as well as your patience in working the compound.
 
B5150, did you find that when using d-limonene a 1:1 ratio worked best? Also, if one were to use DMSO, do you think a 0.75:1 ratio would work better than a 1:1 ratio?

I know I am not B5150 but what solvent and the ratio is dependant on the base compound and the concentration. I would not use D-limonene with test base.

What is better? It was wet which means it went into compounding with PhloJel very easily. To me that is better. I wanted a 10% DMSO compound for PE purposes so to me it was better for that reason as well.

Sorry, I'm referring to test base only. Why not D-limonene with test base? And, in regards to DMSO, I assume you use the 99.9% version?

Test base did not dissolve properly in D-limonene. Too much residual grittiness. That will be the significant obstacle to using Test Base. DMGE works very well to dissolve it, DMSO works sufficiently at a 1:1ratio(a little heat increases effect).

Thanks for your help. Forgive my ignorance, but what is DMGE and where is it available?

Thanks. Very good thread! It doesn't look like I will be able to obtain the DMGE though. Do you think if I used 0.5:1 DMSO and 0.5:1 D-limonene it would still give a bad taste in the mouth? Also, do you know if PS80 would be of any use in TDs?
