Respect to all those young lads who jumped/ran/swam/crawled into the jaws of Nazi occupied territory and fought with great courage and sacrifice to establish a toe hold on Europe and slowly defeat the Nazi war machine. I don't think kids today fully appreciate what their grand fathers and possible great grand fathers went through on that day and how it changed the course of history.

Also, I'm not sure how to post videos but check out this link to the D-Day invasion scene from the movie, "The Longest Day". Everyone has seen Saving Private Ryan but before that movie, this scene from "The Longest Day" was considered one of the most gritty and realistic battle scenes for it's time.

The 97 year old vet who almost died parachuting into Normandy recreated it today - that was awesome! Much respect for all of these guys who went through hell and came back alive. Also immense respect for those who didn't make it and their families.

Couldn’t imagine going through the Great Depression and WW2. Extremely incredible what that generation went through.

I'm a big fan of WW2 history. Couldn't wait to get home at see, hopefully, some new documentaries. Turn on History Channel to see that they had an American Pickers marathon.

History Channel is the worst. I'd rather watch all those cool WW documentaries on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

At least those who bash the old america are quiet for one day. You now what I mean. Kinda sad no vets from later conflicts will get this kind of treatment.

Interesting. Austrian television had D Day all over it.

People in Austria and Germany seem to be very critical towards fascism. They had moved on.
There is much more love for fascist regimes here in Croatia.

Well, it wasn't ALL bad. The uniforms were pretty snazzy
