been training on and off for a year and a half and am just now interested in powerlifting. basic lifts are 225bench, 315squat 200deadlift. using the westside routine this summer along with another pl routine by ed coan. my goal for this summer is to bench over 300,squat at least 400, and deadlift 300. hard goals but im optimistic. i want to start competing by this time next year so i want to cut weight alot. my plan is to cut down and start competing and then as i get stronger bulk back up. i have no problem putting on weight, 50lbs since last year, but cutting is hard for me. need some advice wether to cut down or continue to bulk and put off competition for a few years. advice

this might be in the wrong forum bro, but check out the diet/nutrition forum.
It has all you need to learn how to cut up if you wanna do that.
By the way, how old are you?

And also please don't take what I say next as an insult, because I'm not as strong as most of these guys on here anyway and I don't mean to offend you:
As far as competing goes, at your size, your lifts aren't really spectacular. My training partner is 19, 5'10, 155lbs and deads 495. :jaw:

You might want to post your question in the powerlifting forum because there are some good guys there that will give u advice.

Whatever you decide, best of luck to you!

thanks. i know my lifts arent that impressive but the increases in my max have been very dramatic. only been lifting serious for about 3 months and thought i was improving pretty quick.

3 months only?! pretty damn good then! :clap2:

keep it going for another year or two and then see where you're at.
