crazy pull up

anyone ever see this exercise? It goes from a close grip pull up into a tricep extension. some of the guys in the ghetto workout vids bust a few out. is there a name for these? can anyone do them? I tried and they are ferkin hard as hell. idk how you even start when i can't do one :thumbsdown:
 
Yeah I've seen what you're talking about. I don't know of a name for it, but it doesn't seem like the most effective exercise for either back or triceps. I would think mostly shoulder strength comes into play when you are transitioning from the top of the pull up, over the bar to the the tricep extension. My shoulders hurt just thinking about it.
 
i can do 8 maybe 10 muscle ups
 
dam. do they put any strain on your shoulder? do you do them regularly? ive never seen anyone do them in any of the gyms i've been to...

no, if done properly, there shouldnt be much stress on your shoulder..

i dont do them regularly... you dont see people doing them because most ppl cant :wall:



in feb i weighed 218 about 15% bf... i couldnt do one

now im about 204 10% and i can do 8 - 10

theyre not good for much other than showing off
 
I suppose I could see the shoulders being okay so long as the movement is fluid enough. I was just imagining how it feels if I go way too low while doing dips.
