Country Gets HUGE with 5-3-1, Erase and DAA.

LOL that deadlift isn't going to happen, but I definitely want to get a 500 squat by the end of 2014, maybe I can get a 400 bench press too. Why not, though? I'm in.

Dude did you come out the womb deadlifting? LOL 500 looked like they loaded fake plates on there!

I am super jelly of both lifts and you smashed it. Vids were quite impressive.

Good deal bro!

Darn someone finally figured out my secret. Haha. It's a combination of genetics and lots of training. I hit 500 for the first time when I was 16. Got injured playin ball about a year later and took 2+ years to get back where I left off.

Don't be jealous you're lifts are pretty impressive yourself. Just keep making steady gains.

Awesome lifting ma man

Thanks bro! It was a blast.

Felt good and halfway through my workout got really fatigued. Like. Yawning/falling asleep. No energy or strength. I got my work in though. Stayed lighter today. Hammer down next week.

Body weight 195

Bench- warm up good. 225x5, 245x7, 265x4 (left some in tank) 245x7

Uh bench-135x10,12,12

Pull up 45x7. Chin up 45x10. Pull-up BWx10. Chin up BW x 10

Db skulls 35x10

Helped my buddy w his deadlift and got him hitting over his max with ease. I think I was off a little bit being on a different bench as well. Weight felt light but I was fatiguing during the sets fast. Didn't eat much today so I may have just been low on energy.

Waitin for this jack off to finish super setting shrugs with swinger shoulder raises. Yippee.

I think I get a bigger chest pump squatting than benching... Big squat=big chest?

Apparently actually tying my chucks makes a big deference in my squats. Just blasted 275x8 easy and only stopped because my forearm cramped. After doing it for 2 sets of 5. Squat groove is feeling better and better. Gona keep hammering reps at this weight.

Good. I actually prefer my lifting shoes to fit small, specifically so I do not have my feet shift a single bit in them.

And 10 reps. Still had more but that's a lot of reps. And I don't wana go heavier today. I got 3 more weeks for that. Widened out a little, pointed toes out. Kept knees out. Dive bomb the hole, explode out pushing my upper back into the bar so my hips don't rise. Boom. Money.

Yeah, I'm an idiot. I never tie my shoes I have them tied and slip on. Fine for bench and deadlift (because they are small) but my chucks are bigger when not tied. Fit perfect laced up. So I did. Wow. Plus the tongue of the shoe pushes into my shins and gives me a little rebound out of the Hole. I swear it's not bro science...

First time my hams and glutes have hurt after squatting in like a year. Must be doing it right. I'm half tempted to hit another set.

For anyone who cares I tore down my jeep today. Centering ball on the front driveshaft went out 14 years and 140k miles later I'm not really surprised. Cruising in 2wd only for now.

Workout. Squats.

Squat. Bar x10,7. 135x7,5 225x6. 275x5,5,8,10

Leg press. 350x7,7 (hip was hurting)

Sit up strict 20,25,30

Preacher curl 70x10,15,12

Stretch.

Thanks man. I'm excited to hit some heavy stuff next few weeks.

That's my kinda volume. Nice work here, Big Country.

I should be doing a bit more volume now that I will be going back into regular workouts, especially w/ the accessories. I kinda slacked off today. I want to really kill some work capacity/volume on squats and get stronger, as I feel that is something that helped me grow and develop both form and muscle on deads.

This is probably why I'm gaining. 2nd Bowl and I couldn't even stop eating to take a picture.

Is that hamster meat in your cereal?

Pretty decent day today once things got rolling... I redid cycle 11, since I kinda butchered it w/ meet prep etc halfway through. So it's cycle 12 technically for me, but the 11 weights. Whatever. I had to start my bench in the power rack on one of those little wheelie benches because some kid and a girl wayyyyy too young for him were working out benching together on the flat bench. (doing like 145 to boot... the guy).

C12 D1 W1 Bw- 195.5 Bench

Bench - warm up good. 225x5, 245x5 275x3 (pissed) x4 (more pissed) x5(they left and I switched to the real bench!!!!)
The 5 reps was easy once I got on the real bench. This just shows that setup is key. I might have had 6 but I left some in the tank and hit
305x1, 225x9

Left it go at that. Next time around I'm going 275x++++ more. (thursday?)

Did tris db skullcrushers 35x10,12, 45x5

stupid people on the cables for an hour...

Back - row machine - 180 vertical handles x10, horizontal handles x10

210 same way as above x10,10

back to cables to finish tris - blast them 12x15,18,

5 pullups, 5 chin ups, 30 situps, out of there.

Overall good workout, felt good. Wish I would have got on the real bench the whole time so I could have AMRAP the 275. oh well. Just got some extra volume in.

Also, I need you guys to tell me what belt to get. I can't even pick one.

Also herderdude and Torobestia you said the do-wins run pretty close to accurate size? Where is a good place to buy?

Belt- Inzer or Titan-10mm, buckle of your choice

I'll buy buying do-wins or addidas, whichever site I find for cheapest. Looking at Risto's as well.. Lemme know what ya guys have for price

Yeah I'm gona look around. okay I'll check those belts, any good place to order them from?

Just search around and find a good price. Never order straight from Inzer unless you want to wait a month. Titans website, Anderson power, APT, lifting large, house of pain

You'll hate the belt at first. Needs time to break in

Thoughts?

I think I'd like them since I like to pull in my heeled squishy nikes anyways. I might try to squat in them too. And definitely bench I think.

Thanks for the suggestions on the belt. I like the look of that longhorn.

The Power Perfect II's have a more stable heal than those I believe. Never physically seen either, all hearsay

And I would most definetly squat with a squat shoe. World of a difference.

I've read that too, but anything is better than what I have now. These shoes are also half the price of the PPIIs and something I can actually get. These are supposed to be the budget version and basically the same thing, just a softer heal. My nikes I pull in now have a big air pocket thing that has a hole in it and leaks/wheezes now... I hate pulling in my flat chucks. So I figure at about a half inch heel with some compression these shoes might be up my alley.

rob112 is this similar to yours?

Haha I saw you in those Nikes. I was like WTF is he doing. This should be a major upgrade.

My DoWins are awesome. They run a half size smaller than your normal workout shoe.

Belt maintenance is like a baseball glove. The best thing I did for it is I'd store it right side out one time, use it, then store it inside out until the next time I use it. I'd flip back and forth and the belt broke in really quick.

I have this one in black with a single prong. It's hard to tell without looking up specs on each.

The descriptions look similar though and same maker.

Thanks for the link my man. Ill give them a gander.

Nice work at the meet brother! (Pardon my delay-Just catching back up)

Thanks dude! I've been wondering where you got to.

Just life getting in the way lately - work, bdays & holiday crap. Had to find a new short term focus (spring beach vacation), as most of my training over the summer was prepping for Russia. Still rocking the 5-3-1 though. My 2013 plan was to get my squat, dl, & bench to 300 (on paper) - dl & suqat are way in the bag, but it looks like I'll miss the bench by just a couple weeks according to my logbook

Good to hear man. Yeah, life has a funny way of doing that to us.

The Adidas that you posted up are the ones that I bought last month.. They are pretty stable and nice to deadlift in. Took a day to get used to walking in a raised heel, those first couple squat walkouts were tricky. But they feel good and help with staying upright.

Good to hear since I just ordered them. Haha. Well see how I like them.

You'll dig them. Sole is solid. Not as solid as the power perfect and 1/4" lower, but just as wide. NomZ said they were a little soft in the heel but I haven't felt any significant give yet. I've tried the power perfect, the romaleo, the reebok crossfit lifter and the ones you ordered. I think you'll be happy for a first lifting shoe. My next purchase will be the power perfect.

I thought about the power perfects or adipower but I need to actually afford the shoes haha. The different between my nikes I have now will be crazy and no way in hell the heel is softer than my nikes. I actually kinda like a soft heel. We will see what happens. I think ill like them.

You're gonna feel the biggest difference in your squat. There's a lot to be said for a solid heel when squatting since that's what you're driving through. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you'll gain from it. Maybe your squat won't be as far behind anymore.

We will see. I hit a good groove w my chucks Friday. They are very solid but flat. A solid raised heel shoe may just be that much better. I've really had an issue with generating power in my squat. Not with being to weak but literally just not driving through my heels and keeping upright. Well see what happens.

Sorry for not going back and reading through everything, but do you do front squats?

Hell no. I could never figure out how to do them with anything more then the bar without wrist/forearm pain. Don't really see the point in doing them when my back squat form still needs substantial work either.

Front squats have so many benefits. It would make both your squat AND deadlift, explode. If I were you, I would learn how to do them.

To correctly front squat, you have to stay upright in order to maintain the weight in the front rack. It also teaches you to keep your core tight or you're gonna look like a jackass when you drop the weight. To alleviate wrist and forearm issues, used the crossed arm technique to keep the weight in place.
Roll the shoulders forward, tuck the chin, easy peasy.

Front squats are great man.. Don't use the clean grip do the one where your arms are crossed I forget what it's called...

That's the form I have had the most success with, but still can't really go to a reasonable weight with them. I always try to learn them again but it never turns out right.

I literally think I went through this conversation about a year ago. And again, I will try them. Today.

I still feel like deadlifting is the best thing for deads and squatting is the best thing for squats. If I have enough energy to do a heavy compound I probably didnt work my main movement hard enough. But I will give them a shot. I may be stubborn but I can listen every once and a while.

I'm sure the benefits are there, if I can figure out how to do them.

I get the form. I've looked into it a lot. Tried it many different ways. My forearms are in proportionally long. They hurt on back squats too unless I super high bar. I have trouble controlling the bar while supporting the weight on my delts.

That's the grip I have had most success with. We will see.
