Country Gets HUGE with 5-3-1, Erase and DAA.

Dude, don't do anything but sit and wait before your attempts. It will only be a few minutes most likely.

Do you pull a set in the gym, then sit around and stretch and do some light pulls and get ready for your next set? Nope.

Do your normal warmup to your opener. Do NOT pull your opener during warmups. Just chill out before your sets. You'll most likely be standing around with a small group in line waitin for the flight to go through

Okay, I guess now that you say that it really shouldn't be all that long between attempts... Duh. I'm here thinking it will be 30 minutes or more.

Good deal.

In other news I'm doing good on my finals. I just have a ton of stress now w/ all the tests etc, plus the meet coming up and trying to prep and heal... but everything is going well. Pulled out a 96 in my Anatomy Lab, a bunch of my buddies are barely passing. I think saturday will be good for me to get some aggression out and have some fun.

Yeah I don't know why I had to dig down into my memory banks when I could have just said Jesse Norris. Homie that I was referring to was a 198, though. Plain and simple, there's no need to hunt for a fed to get a record in or even worry about it. I'd imagine it's cool to have a fed state record or a fed world record, you'd have to ask Sean, he knows. But don't start crowing about your fed record unless you want to catch a lot of flak from a lot of people.

Pretty much every really strong guy whose writing I've seen will put no stock in a federation record unless it's bigger than all the records in all the other feds, nawmeen?

Exactly this. The idea is not to get work in before your opener, just do your normal warmup.

I warm up to like 90% of opener...

Thanks napalm, sounds like a good plan. That's what I kinda figured I'd do.

I get exactly what you mean herd, but I'm not trying to crow about anything. Just think it's cool, and some extra motivation to train hard and compete... I guess I shouldn't worry about how my numbers are relative to other lifters though and just try to improve myself. Didn't mean to talk myself up or something.

I've really only mentioned the fed record to you guys. Anyone outside of AM that knows, I've made sure to say "Yeah but it's just a federation record, it's no big deal" I don't want to hear "Omg you're a world record holder!" Because I'm not. It's definetly an accomplishment I'm proud of and that's why I've mentioned achieving it here but it's not one worth saying "Yeah I'm an RPS world record holder" Doesn't mean crap unless it's all-time really. Jesse Norris, Tee Cummins, all those young guys that are already holding all-time world records...those are the pros. A fed world record doesn't mean crap against those.

But like I said, it's an achievement if you get it though, and it's def cool, but I would feel like a toolbag telling someone I'm a world record holder.

I didn't mean it to sound that way in my response to what the Dude said. My post was just my general thoughts on federation records.

Which is exactly why I mention it here to you guys, not to the guys I lift with or my buddies. I mean I only told a handful I was even doing a meet, along with my family and girlfriend... Most people don't know or understand enough about the sport anyways to know what it means. I've explained to a few guys who were interested how the feds etc all add up. I mean it is impressive but like you said, you can't compare them with real overall records. There are countless guys who could hold the record who just don't happen to fit one of the many criteria, or just lifted in a different fed etc.

Just thought it might be something you guys would be interested in. I'm starting to think I shouldn't have even brought it up, haha.

I got ya man, I know what you guys are saying. Honestly I'm a pretty humble guy, and I don't really see lifting/training as something to brag about... It's just something I do for me. I enjoy it, I like to work hard, push myself, be disciplined, and improve myself. As far as I'm concerned a PR is more important than some kind of record. In the end if you focus on beating yourself you'll make more progress than trying to compete against the people around you.

Nothing wrong with bringing it up and nothing wrong with achieving it, like I said in my post. It's definetly a cool thing. I think we're just talking about the differences, that's all. I think RPS actually counts for all-time state records for PA, which is good for you PA guys.

That's definitely sweet, I will definitely be killing it trying to get some good numbers for the junior 198 and 220s over the next few years... some real impressive numbers though to try and get up to. I definitely recognize the differences. Like just because your HS football team won districts or even states, doesn't mean you are necessarily an NFL or even college caliber athlete. It's still impressive, but different.

You're all good youngin. Hard to convey tone via forum. You best have all the records in 198 AND 220 by the time you're done with the Junior class. I've been checking on my Top 10 status in the squat, bench, and total periodically, let's just say I'm falling down the list about 1 spot every month lol. RPS is competitive because they put up good meets. I haven't done a Big Gene meet yet, but I'm told it's loud, it's rowdy, and it's on time.
NYiron is one of the ones who keeps knocking me down some pegs every time he goes out on the platform, too. Jagoff. Lol.

Wrong. 2" is for püssies. 4" written down my spine.

Not as cool as the Dude's barbell tattoo..

My tattoo is currently sitting at 3 plates. Should I add a plate after I bench 405 next year or am I getting out of hand? ;)

Speaking of tattoos, Idk if you guys have ever heard of Marshall White (besides the posts I made referencing him), but he definitely has a tattoo running down his spine that says "Strongman".

Love it. Saw a guy at the last meet I did, totaled 2000 single ply and pulled 770, had a tattoo of Atlas on his one shoulder blade. It was a gargantuan tattoo. One thing I love about strength athlete tattoos, they have some serious square footage to them. Brandon Lilly looks like the damn Sistine Chapel of tats. He's got some yardage. The spiderweb on his one trap wouldn't fit on my pec.

Good work with school and training, man. Looks like the guys here have already set you up with some great advice for you to succeed at your meet. Take notes. One last thing I don't know if it was covered yet or not was the use of ammonia. I don't know what you're planning on doing or if you're not going to bother with it, but if you do I really like Sean's suggestion of only using them on a third attempt.

Thanks man. Looking at a 4.0 this semester I think, pretty close to the top of my class. Hopefully carry that through grad school so I can get some good money again. They definitely have, the guys take good care of me (most of the time!). I haven't ever used it, I considered getting it but, I think I'll be okay w/ out it or at least steal some from someone. Too late for me to order nose tork or caps or anything tho.

Walgreens has dynarex ammonia inhalants.

focking walgreens is so far away, and honestly I'll be studying/taking tests/sleeping every spare minute til sat morning. Unless I really truly need them. I wish I had time to run there. It's around 30 minutes.

Okay... pretty funny. Guy is a bit of a D bag though. Take it as a joke (I'm looking at you paratroop).

Man, you are behind the times....

Dave posted that hours ago.

Really? Don't have any time to go through the forums so I didn't see. One of my strongman buddies posted it on fb and we were laughing at it. Sorry for the double post fellas.

Razor it. It feels good.

Then buzz cut? Cause I need a hair cut lol.

It will be more like a chuck liddel style If I do.

Wrong audience, pal. You need a gift from the vagi.

Just got lose. Weight 192.4 In shirt and shorts. No worries on weight here. I do actually look lean today haha.

Looking big and lean, bro. But are you sure youre 5'9"? You look awfully thick for that height and weight. (That's not a backhanded compliment! I'm a shorty, at around 5'8.5".)

And cut looks good and digging the ZZ Top beard, even if it adds 2 lbs, lol. ;)

I've said that before too, I've come to the conclusion that he has chicken legs.
