What do you guys normally eat after weigh ins?

What do you guys normally eat after weigh ins?

Some simple carbs immediately post with Pedialyte or diluted Gatorade and glycine. Then, as much food as possible

You aren't cutting are you?

Edit: I read your post wrong so disregard what I just said.

Eat something that's easy on your stomach and will provide some energy. I had a gallon of Gatorade and poptarts then a couple cliff bars throughout.

I weigh in that morning. have like 2 hours from then to lifting starts. So gona eat a decent breakfast and something after weigh ins... but what?

also you guys do your PWO on meet days?

Like what? poptarts haha? I'll need to pick up glycine if I really need it?

Not cutting. I need food in my but something I can digest fast. I was thinking simple carbs. Gona do oatmeal and protein shake in the AM, weigh in a few hours later, then eat simple carbs, kill the meet, and then get some real big food.

I plan to. Pretty sure rob drank one before squat, bench, and dead

Yeah I just edited my post. I'd eat a big dinner night before and a good breakfast. Then snack on poptarts or whatever between lifts if you're hungry.

Prewo isn't necessary. You'll have enough adrenaline. If it drags on though, I took a stimulant based prewo (Enhanced) If you do take one, make sure you won't get jitters and that it's something you know won't mess with ya

Okay coolio. This meet is gona be pretty quick I think, so not much time to eat between lifts ( I need time to digest lol) I'll bring some poptarts and a big thing of gatorade and water. and maybe a bar.

Just have a crapload of pasta for breakfast and you'll be set dude. Maybe take a caffeine pill or your stimul8 in the AM, but it shouldn't be necessary. I hate having jitters when getting under the bar.

I was gona take condense cause stimulate actually gives me a little crash and condense doesn't. And does ramen count as pasta cause ill be leaving college and driving there. No kitchen.

Usually I eat pretty much the same thing whether or not it's a 24 hr weigh in: the met-rx big colossal bars. I don't like to be full, so I'll eat 2 of them when I wake up, and I'll typically eat 2 more after squat and 2 more after bench. It's what my stomach is used to, so I don't change.

I brought 2 boxes of 4 with me to Prague...

Man, I can't eat more than one of those at a time. Tears me up.

Haha well the season 4 midseason finale was just on and was great. Really didn't see any of it coming. Pretty much only TV show I watch at all, haha. 1 hour a week.

Impractical jokers and South Park. Add those and your set bro

Southpark maybe... I'm picky. I just like killing zombies and the characters, as corny/crappy as some are.

Impractical jokers is hilarious man . I like that stuff cause with work and school you can get too serious. Which is why I dumb it up and watch stupid and funny stuff whenever I can

Haha I need to be more serious sometimes. Like right now.

So meet is this weekend, huh?

Meet prep-bench. Body weight 194.4 5 days out.

Bench- stretch, bar, 135x7,7 185x5,5 all paused.

Pull ups -10,12,10

Push up-15x3

Banded shoulder work. Stretch.

My body hasn't felt this healthy/recovered in a long, long time. Wow.

Amazing what that meet prep rest will do for the body. You'll notice it most of all when you're on the platform. Every opener I've ever taken looked like a speed rep from that time off and adrenaline.

Is what I'm doing looking appropriate/correct for this week?

I bet it will, if I speed rep 500 I can't wait for the big weight.

I guess so haha. So 50-60% is okay on the mains? I'm prob gona dead 225. So like... 40% lol.

That's fine. You're thinkin too much bud. It's not gonna make or break ya. Brandon Lilly recommends 3 sets of 8 @ 30% Monday of all 3 lifts. Wednesday, bench 75% x3, and Thursday is a repeat of Monday. Stretch/mobility all days.

I believe I posted a few pages back what I did. Just stay greasy

That way my plan. Light on the mains (bench today, dead tomorrow) then chill out the rest of the week/mobility etc.

I suck though when I don't do anything. You did tell me to mash/mobilize but nothing really about programing just light. You think I should hit a few sets of bench at like 205 tomorrow along w/ dead?

I know I overthink a lot, my personality. It has it's benefits and downfalls.

There is no way to program a meet prep deload week. Literally everyone does something different. When I say light, I mean light. Those sets aren't gonna do anything for you. They won't make you stronger, faster, or more proficient. You should already be at that point.

For me, I squatted only for monolift practice, and I benched barely anything just to reciprocate setup.

Hit your mains, light, by whatever standard of light that eases your mind, and get some lunges and crap in if you want. Maintain mobility and work out kinks

I'm just doing mobility I decided. Give the body a rest I wanna be feeling fresh.

I don't do anything but make sure I don't get bound up, then two days out I work up to something really simple and easy, just to make sure I'm all there on technique. After weigh ins (24hr weigh ins) I catch another session to break a sweat and get a little baby pump. Took me both days to find my squat before last meet, but it turned out perfect.

Meet prep deads

Dead- bar. 135x7. 225x3,3,3,3

Focus on form, set up, grip, etc.

Still don't like over/under I can't ever get square on the bar consistently.

Did some light abs, back extension,

Chin ups-15,15

Mobility/stretch session.

Do the same thing, every time. It's a lot easier to focus on the task at hand if you get into a routine...

Check out the dan green vids some more, the ones where he deadlifts.

Check out how he grips the bar. It's like he's screwing his upper body. I do it, too, the rare times I go over under. It helps me orient my body wrt the bar so I don't favor one side of my body over the other. Try it out if you want.

I just tend to have some imbalance side to side, from my lats to my shoulders to my bicep flexion when supinated vs pronated. Also when you flip your hand one pointed is inside, one pinky, but the weight isn't held on the pinky much at all so I can't really line it up, it has to be in a little more. I have a routine down, its just still a little weird to me. Once I start slammin reps it feels better though.

a few pull ups, pushups, sit ups, light back extension, some bench and deadlift with the bar, and lots of stretching, mobilizing, and mashing. Weight 194.4. Bring on the meet.

who knows where I can find the PA state record for deadlift, including all the feds. Is there such a thing?

USAPL is 560 for 18-19 198 (me)
RPS is not listed for 198. Open is 530.

So as long as I show up in feb I should take home a state record in RPS in both my age and open.

Also what do you guys do to stay warm between lifts? I feel like this meet will be faster paced and I won't have time to chill but enough to cool down.

So after 500 do I warm up again through everything for 550?

I just made sure I was ready for my flight. Like flight one, warm up after rules, flight two, warm up during flight one, etc.

You can wear warmer clothing over your singlet until you lift as well.

Flights move fast too IMO

Yeah, once the people in the flight before you start lining up to hit it, it's time for you to start warming up. Mobilize before that.

I do like I always did in wrestling, start off bundled up in many layers like I've gotta warm up outside during a blizzard, then peel layers as I go. Don't overheat, but get lathered up. Once I'm done, I put my heaviest layer back on and leave it.

For the record, I've seen video of a Beaver County kid pulling 6. Don't know what meet or anything, but if you wanted a legit any-fed state record, you're looking at going well up over six.

I don't doubt it. I plan on pulling 6 in feb, hopefully. I mean I'm not gona get ahead of myself. Also what weight class was he etc...? There are plenty of stronger guys out there but the numbers on record are what count for that fed. Numbers for open 198 get up towards 620ish then. Just gona get as strong as I can get and if I get a record so be it. Just want to be my personal best and keep improving and growing... Just saying if nothing else happens in the next 3 months I should have an RPS record. I know theres a 19 year old kid in the 190s that pulls 775 raw... I'm sure lots of guys in between me and him hahaha.

So, I should just keep warm/ stretched/mobilized between pulls, but do my real warm up etc just for the first. Should I even do some light pulls before the second and third attempts?

Thanks for all the advice guys.
