I could hit around 1200 I think in my first comp. I would like to see a 325 bench, 450 squat, and 600 DL before I start competing. I know I can do all of that, I am no where near ready to do a competition squat however. I need to heal and then I need to put in the hard work and time on squat and bench like I have been.
I have a trap strain/pull that is causing me a lot of pain and discomfort, the squat bar makes it worse when I have 300+ on the bar, and then it bothers me in all my other lifts. I am trying to heal or at least calm it down and then get back squating. I have a lot I have found wrong with my form and really want to refocus and come back with a mechanically better squat. My DL is on key perfectly. I never put as much work into the squat. My bench feels great as well. I have to sacrifice some form to keep my hips down, as I have issues with pain from a prior injury if I get too much rotation in my pelvis.
Overall I am strong as ever now, but I know I have many things to work on and get better at before I am ready to compete. I don't believe in going into something half-assed.
Didn't know you had a log running, I'm definitely subbing to this. Maybe I can learn some more stuff. For instance, the fuh is The Cube? Srs.
It's a book by Lilly and its basically about his method and philosophy for lifting from his experience as one of the toughest guys out there.
Ahh, sounds like something I might ought to read. Yeah, I'll be on the hunt for it tonight.
Hey man, when you go to compete you will do awesome. You are much stronger than I sir. Get that back healed up first though!
Opinions? I don't really like a lot of caffeine. Got it with my last order.
I was using the duckwalk from linemen drills in football haha. It was actually working better for me than the tight feet which I tried first. I felt like it would have better carry over using the same stance I used for deadlift and squat....
I will try narrow however as you say next time. I know that is how the pros do it, but I was having trouble with it. Thanks for the suggestions!
I tried getting lower on the pull, but my feet were slipping. I might do it in the yard next time and wear cleats. Thoughts?
I was under the impression as long as I'm doing work and it's moving it should be a good workout. Do you think I will see more from a narrow stance, or that it will make it easier. Like I said first time setting this up so I will definitely take your pointers and try them out! You are the strongman after all, right?
Go for it. The slight incline was killin me. I have steeper parts I can work up to. I will check out your vids when you put em up of course and we will all critique if you ask for it.
Funny, I only train in the morning.
Yup kick those shoes off. You need a stable sole (chucks, addidas sambas, whatever chuck knockoff, pending stance-oly shoes)
Your knees are the first part to move. Try sitting back with your hips, opening them and your knees up.
As for depth, was kinda hard to tell. Could possibly pass in comp. Might be a tad shy.
