Compression cuff question

I was using the blue slingshot compression cuffs for about 2 years and from pulling it up and down my forearms has stretched them out so I bought the 42inch slingshot multipurpose wrap and at first I thought they were two big but after using them awhile they have gotten looser and fit nicely and I haven't had a problem with them. I've been using them for about a half year and like I said never experienced any problems with either the wraps or my elbows. However after yesterday's heavy bench I now have I weird feeling in where ud get blood taken from, like the crease, every time i bring my arms up in a hammer curl motion. Sorry for the gigantic intro but my question is. Could compression cuffs/elbow wraps, ever be wrapped to tight and mess with ur veins or arteries, like close them off or cause a blood clot from them being closed or idk how to word it but if anyone has any advice it's greatly appreciated

My uneducated guess in this is no, unless it was REALLY tight.

In for responses tho.

I'm going off an uneducated assumption as well. But I imagine its possible but I feel like you would know it in the moment instead of just feeling it later on. Probably more likely you just beat up the tendon. Where exactly is it hurting?

in the crease of my left arm, like where u would get blood drawn

I feel like some dudes wrap there's knees way tighter than I or anyone could wrap their elbows and if they aren't closing off arteries and veins I should be fine. I know I'm just overthinking this cause that's my nature

They will compress the arteries and veins and if you get a dangerous clot you would know right away by getting a stroke or pulmonary embolism. Sounds like you just pissed off a bicep tendon. Not a big deal, just give it some good pumps and maybe use not so tight compression

so basically id die or almost die right away not after? It only feels weird when my arms are in the position as if the bar would be on my chest. Like forearms touching upper arms

Next time you're in the gym try hitting a couple sets of VERY high rep bicep curls. Like 2 or 3 sets of 50-100 with a real light weight. That usually helps when I'm getting pain like that. You could also look into getting a elbow sleeve instead of the cuff. Provides some support and plenty of warmth without the hassle of compression gear.

I hope it's not to bad for you. I experienced pain in the same spot you mentioned. I didn't feel anything when I got hurt though. It was a day or so later. I waited, figuring it would go away. To make a long story short, I tore my lower distill bicep tendon. It required surgery. I am back to 100% now. One of the things I couldn't do was hold a hammer and rotate it left and right without pain. I hope you don't have the injury I had.

Sorry to get off topic but how to the cuffs compare to the wraps? I love the cuffs but now there a little to tight is the wrap better for adjusting different amount of pressure without falling off? And the seam to be falling apart in me too I have the blue cuffs

no it's definitely not that bad, it doesn't even hurt really it's just a weird feeling but I know it's not normal

yea the wraps seem like they will definitely last longer because u don't need to pull them up and down the forearms. And it allows u to apply the pressure u want like u mention. I wouldn't go with the 42 inch tho haha I think it's a little big, I have 18 inch arms and 15 inch forearms and I wrap slightly above and below and on the elbow. So basically 2.5 half times around. And that's on the slightly tight side. So u can probably get 2 times around with a looser grip. If ur looking for that many rotations go for the 42 then

Rehband make a sleeve version that has adjustable Velcro bands (7791) that I've been using for years. Check these out but be warned, they are pricey:

any recommendations for a solid sleeve?

SBD makes an elbow sleeve now. I've never tried It personally but they make amazing knee sleeves so I imagine its the same thing.

Other than that you can't go wrong with rehband.

Sometimes I wear my girlfriends Titan knee sleeves on my elbows and even that does the trick. I wouldn't go too tight though, sleeves can be a lot harder to put on than a wrap if you go size it too small.

solid I'll look into those

How many days after doing 100 rep recovery sets should u wait to hit that muscle again? Can u do them the day before ur going to do that muscle?

You can do them as part of your warm up if you want. It probably isn't tiring enough to affect your working sets, just gets blood moving through that area and warms up the joint. You can do it after as well. Whenever you're getting that pain really.

All the time, man. If I don't do my hammer curls every time I'm in the gym, I can forget about benching heavy that week. The light 100rep stuff is meant to be done often and the benefits accumulate over time. I know Westside does leg curls with 10lb ankle weights to build that area up, Caitlyn Trout did 100 band pullaparts every day for years to build a shelf, so you won't hurt recovery with curls.

I dunno what you did with the wraps, I wrap my brother's to the point where we break blood vessels on accident, but it all goes away quickly.
