Unanswered Clomid only cycle for naturally low test? Will you keep it after stopping?

NOT A PCT QUESTION! So I’ve been looking into this low dose clomid cycle that people are often put on by docs for a month or 2 as a last resort before going into trt to for life. Seems to have pretty promising testosterone gains for guys with low test, what I’m wondering though and am having trouble finding is if this will help your body establish higher test and keep it that way once you stop dosing, or will your test go back to being low after stoping the clomid? Some threads I found make it sound like it’s just a substitute for test, but is still trt. While others imply it just a temporary thing to avoid trt... anyone got experience that can chime in?

First of all i will say go with your doctor's advice. He will present you with the best solutions for managing low testosterone long term. It is not something you do for a cycle. Testosterone management is generally a life-long commitment if you want to keep benefits.

as far as using clomid for off-label use (normal test levels but want a little boost), i dont think it is effective. I did it. Used clomid and 6 bromo "cycle" as a pct for 11 ketotestosterone. I felt some kind of a boost in energy and muscle fuloness about 2 weeks into this but i think it was 6 bromo which is supposed to be somewhat androgenic in itself.

My experience with clomid this year after test cycle was horrible. I felt like utter sh1t.

Clomid will raise shbg and leave you with smaller percentage of free test.

So, i wouldnt recommend clomid standalone. It is also not the drug you would want to take long term, side effect list is quite long

google is your friend...lots and lots of info about clomid but you have to use your judgement. one article will say one thing another the opposite, just like the responses you are likely to get here.

I love Clomid and do cycles of 2-3 months a couple times a year. I do feel a little stronger and get a little tighter during. Last time I did bloods I had a total test of 1100 and free was 160, my normal total is high 400’s. After you’re done you slowly go back to normal, hopefully a little higher, but not lower.

I would recommend to try Clomid before jump on trt.

What are the side effects you’re referring to?

also, the emotional side effects. Woke up one morning and tears started appearing, for no reason whatsoever, only 25mg per day.

Eyesight problems. Some get them, some do not. But i definitely do not want to take my chances. I am an amateur astronomer and last thing i need is something that messes with my eyesight.

not too mention the fact that it is a unnatural substance messing with the brain chemistry.

There are also reports of higher incidence of deep venous thrombosis and strokes due to clomid and tamoxifen.

Again, thrombosis might be result of sth else, but there are articles online discussing thrombosis risks die to fertility therapies, serms namely.

Sems that clomid is less toxic than tamoxifen but still...

oh and it is also an oral eubstance, so there will be some strain on the liver. Tamoxifen is hepatoxic, not sure about clomid but gut instinct tells me it is not liver friendly.

here where i live most vets who have been using steroids and been on trt for years strongly advise against serm usage. Especially tamoxifen.

so if I understood right, the 1100 tt was while you were on the clomid cycle? How long after you stopped the cycle did you do your off cycle bloods? Did they drop dramatically and make you feel noticeabley “lower” in terms of test production? So you’re still at 400 total now that you’ve stopped?

@R2Dtwo what is the point of "a month or two" of clomid if you have low T? You will have to keep taking it if you want to maintain the benefits.
You will be back to your low T after you stop. Then what? Trt? Or continue clomid?

I just dont understand the reasoning here.

hence why i said to go to your doctor and discuss treatment options. But a month or two of clomid wont fix anything.

I have no experience with Tamoxifen so can not speak of that but I plenty of experience with Clomid, I have not experienced any of the side effects you’re mentioning and always have good blood work on it, no liver issues. Like with anything, if you’re overdosing you’ll get side effects, but if you keep you doses at 25mg and bellow I doubt you’ll get any side effects, especially if you get pharmacy Clomid.

yes, after 8 weeks of 25mg, it doesn’t drop dramatically. I’m not sure where I am at the moment, but last time I tested “off” Clomid I was 489 (or something like that) and usually I get to 900+ with Clomid. I done this for the last 3-4 years, it’s been pretty consistent.

Thanks for the insight, definitely considering clomid seriously now!

It’s definitely something to try before going on trt but, as @CroLifter said, 1 or 2 month will probably not fix anything long term.

You can do it, but keep clomid low and don't forget to add some ostarine (to prevent shbg elevations) and some zinc, a little exemestane and basic 5mg tadalafil)
Works good, no supression, no estrogen (clomid) effects.

Not understanding why the addition of ostarine. Doesn't Osterine cause more suppression? At 25mg of clomid is the enough estrogen elevation to recommend exemstane?
Also what is the tadalafil for? Are libido issues expected from clomid?
