Chinups vs. Lat Pulldown

Can someone enlighten me on the changes that occur with a change in grip? From what I feel it's only forearm that is affected when changing palm position etc.

Grip often affects shoulder rotation, which is what causes different muscles to be used according the what type of grip/rotation you are using. The mechanics of the wrist, elbow, and shoulder are all affected by your grip.
 
For my current back day I do the following, in order

Neutral grip lat pull downs (vbar)
Seated cable rows (sam bar)
1 arm seated rows
Rack pulls
Shrugs

I guess the question here is, am I neglecting the lats to much, should I throw in a palms facing away from me pull downs with shoulder width grip?
