This coming tuesday i have a doctors appointment to check out my nose. Ever since this winter i'm continuously getting bloody noses. When it started this winter i didn't think much of it since during the winter months i seem to get them. But this last winter i was running some test and drol and the bleeding really picked up. I figured once the winter was over and I got "off cycle" it would subside. Well it didn't. The bleeding is still going strong and i'm kicking myself in the ass for not taking care of this problem sooner. I figured the cold weather, drol, high blood preasure, and heavy squats are the main reason. But now my bp is a lot more under control so i'm wondering if i have a broken vessel in my nose that never healed correctly. I have noticed that fatty foods and alcohol seem to cause more violent bleeding so that would be some-what related to hbp..i'm guessing. So tuesday i'm headed back home to the family doc. my parents told me to write down all the supps i'm taking. I really don't like talking to my doc. about my supps because last year he told me creatine will give me gyno... goes to show his little knowledge of these substances. my parents told me i'm gonna have to take a blood test. Is this common for a docs visit for a bloody nose problem? I'm on test, winny, and 1-test at the moment and i've always suspected my parents know i use or assume i do. All i want is for a specialist to pack my nose so the bleeding will stop. If the doc asks me if i take any hormone type substances i'm going to deny it all. I am under my own insurance plan so what happens in the docs room should stay there, unless they find out about my usage. I am going to tell him that heavy squats are the reason for the bloody nose, popped a vessel. If anyone could give some advice on what i should expect or handle this situation that would be great.

Then...last night at work i lost my cell phone. I work at a bar and we have a lot of regulars there. the only place where i could have lost my phone would be by the door. I sit there and check i.d.'s so i wonder if it fell out of my pocket and some fool picked it up. Now i'm really kicking myself in the ass becuase i have 40 or so text messeges all talking about gear, cycles, etc. If a waitress or my manager found out about this i'm screwed. I was worried last night that whoever has it would start calling radom numbers in my phonebook and tell what the found in the bouncers phone. Today i suspended the phone so it cant be used. Now i'm hoping the battery dies and whoever has it doesn't have a recharger for that type of phone. i normally delete all text messeges regularly but last night wasn't soon enough. I did notice a group of idiots that kept staring at me during the night. I'm gonna assume they have my cell....bastards.

Damn, that sucks, especially about the cell phone. Did you try to call or msg your phone? Maybe a text msg would be better, you could possible lure someone in with a "reward" offer...

i did try calling it a few times from a friends phone but nobody answered. Tonight at work i recieved some good news and bad news. the good news the manager found my phone. the bad news the manager found my phone..lol. It was obvious he and another waitress knew what was inside. I gave some hints on questioning whether everything was cool or not. He seemed "ok", he never said anything about what the text messeges said, but he did say he went through it. So lessoned learned and i'll be more careful on deleting my messeges.

it's not his phone, he shouldn't have gone through it, so he can't hold it against you.

about the doctor, can you get into trouble with the law if you tell your doctor that you use?

What happens cable is that it gets reported to the insurance company then they drop you like a hot potato as soon as they can

wow...you seem to have my luck...if it wasent bad luck you would have no luck.......Chin up.........:) good luck with the nose.....

cable-matt is right, that is why i'll deny everything to my doc if he asks. I agree my manager shouldn't have gone through my phone. When i arrived at work and saw my phone sitting in plain view, next to the stamp and marker i use to seperate the minors from the rest, i noticed my managers reaction as soon as i took it. he secretly got another waitresses attention as soon as i grabbed it. I could tell right away and got pissed. I gave every one the cold shoulder and didn't talk much at all. THis is how i seperated the people who knew and who didn't just by how they reacted towards my adittude. I guess i'll keep working there, but i hate it when someone has something over me, especially someone like my manager who gets off by knowing everyones deepest darkest little secrets.

WG, thanks for the reply, I never have much luck with anything, but that is because i don't rely on luck. I'lll keep my chin up, but not too high or the blood will run down my throat!:D

But what ever happens in the end, if i get dropped by my insurance company, if my parents find out, or if i loose my job, I'll still remain chopper challenge champion, supreme pilot of all human-kind. lol

Well that's a shitty situation with your manager, but he didn't have to go through it and read your business, that's just not right. Keep your cool around everyone - they'll be looking for you to have some roid rage, lol! Stay confident though, don't let them think they have **** on you - they don't.

wow, didn't know that matt.
and knox, it looks like you don't have a choice then, see if the doc can figure out what it is without all the info.
regardless, let us know how it goes. feel better.

ya it is a shitty situation. i probably will just act like nothing ever happened and maybe the whole thing will fly by. as long as the 2 people who know keep it among themselves i won't rage out and snap spines just yet lol. i try not to mingle with the coworkers much because just like any other job it's a giant soap opera, especially the bar scene. i've heard many rumors that my manager and the owner of the bar are highly into coke, but i'm not making that my business or an interest of mine. i'm there to due my job and get paid.

cable-i'm just gonna go in and not mention anything about supps. i think that would be the best idea. there are sooo many factors that can lead to frequent nose bleeds, like dryness, allergies, cold, heat, blood preassure etc. etc. i just feel as though my parents are trying to narrow down the reason of my nose bleeds on supps. which is stupid becuase i was getting nose bleeds 2 winters ago before i ever started any form of anabolics.

thanks for the help fellas, and WG, i'll let you all know how this turns out.

1. The doc can't legally share that info with your parents or he'll be in deep ****. There are certain rights you have to keep information confidential.

2. If you think your manager is hitting the ice, I'd try to keep an eye out for it. Something tells me he'll be less likely to use the information he found in your phone against you if you know a thing or two about him.

3. I think I'd stick to refraining from sharing your gear use through YOUR CELL PHONE.

4. The most common reasons for nose bleeds are (1) trauma (for example, by picking or rubbing your nose) and (2) excessive dryness (usually due to dry weather), which may chap the nasal tissues.
Tumors of the nasal cavity and tumors of the sinuses can also cause nose bleeds. Danger signs that suggest the possibility of tumor include:
Nose bleeds which recur over the course of a few months
Nose bleeds associated with any of the following:
loose teeth, numb facial skin, a change in vision, a change in occlusion (the way your teeth meet), or any deformity of the facial contour
If any of these symptoms are present, bring this to your doctor's attention

If a doctor has determined that your nose bleeds are due to one of the common benign reasons (trauma or dry weather), you can help prevent further nose bleeds by observing the following precautions:
Needless to say, DON'T PICK YOUR BLOODY NOSE! (Pun intended.)
Do not lift any heavy objects (more than 20 pounds) *read below for my advice on this since we are bodybuilders*; do not strain or bend over for long periods. Do not strain at bowel movements; take a fiber supplement or a laxative, if necessary.
Do not forcefully blow your nose.
Sneeze with your mouth open (this will reduce the force of the sneeze).
Keep your nose moist. A salt water solution (Ocean, Ayr or NaSal are easily obtainable brands in the USA) may be sprayed in each nostril every 2 to 3 hours, or as often as necessary. Ayr Gel is an excellent product as well.
[Some products available without prescription are, as of this writing (2005), a bit too new to evaluate. NasalCease and QR powder are two examples. I'm still waiting to hear what my patients think of these products.]
Consider buying a humidifier for your bedroom, especially if your house is very dry. Use it at night. For added moisture, you could spray with nasal saline or use Ayr Gel.
If you develop a nose bleed, rest quietly on a couch while applying firm, gentle pressure to your nose. Do this by pinching your nose between your thumb and forefinger. Hold pressure for 5 to 7 minutes. If the bleeding continues, gently blow the clots from your nose, then spray each nostril with Afrin (generic: oxymetazoline) or Neosynephrine (generic: phenylephrine). (This assumes your doctor has cleared you to use these medications.) Hold pressure again for 5 to 7 minutes. If necessary, you may repeat the spray 15 minutes after the first spray. If the bleeding continues, seek medical attention at once.

*The part on heavy lifting obviously doesn't apply to people interested in their physique. Take a good look at your straining patterns during heavy lifting. It is very easy to build up pressure, especially in the head and sinus which can contribute to your bleeding. If you detect a problem, focus on it and find ways to alleviate pressure elsewhere.

thank you for sharing all that information. my nose bleeds have been going for a couple of months now, i really hope it is not a tumor. I guess that could also explain the reason for a blood test. i add lotion to my nose regularly and use a humidifier at nights during the winter. I'll have to wait and see what the doc says tuesday. thanks again WYD for the info., it really opens the picture with my problems.
