When it comes to personal training certifications, which ones do you guys think are the most reputable and respected, and which ones are a waste of time. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.
 
depends where you are

nasm or nsca if u gots the money

ace if youre a cheap fuk and want an easy over night cert that no other trainer respects

That's a bull **** statement about Ace. And price wise nasm and ace are respectably close to the same in price.
 
What i have found in the industry, cert means absolutly nothing. all it does is get you in the door at a gym. i have NASM and i know people with ones that are not "respectable" and they get hired.
 
Get one that is nationally accredited and required by your desired employer.

Then, get good at what you do by attending conferences, reading books, talking with "experts", taking classes, etc. Many college professors will allow you to sit in on their courses (audit them)..I know I have let people sit in on mine. You just do not get credit, write papers (at least, I don't have time to correct papers of people who are not actually in my class), or take exams. But, you can learn a lot while spending NO money.

Agreed I know a few people with nccpt and they have clients waiting for them it's all about how you present yourself and how much you know. My experience certs are worthless
 
i consider it as just a foot in the door. when i got my nasm cert, i got 5 interviews in the first 2 weeks of doing applications. dont think ace would give you that kind of oppurtunity

i hated and disagreed with a lot of the book though. especially when it came to explaining how to teach exercises and progression. they have retarded ass ways of teaching barbell movements like squats and bench pressing. and they preach those stupid balance based progression schemes like curling dumbells when standing on a foam role with one foot. dafuq right?
 
Ya Nasm is a good cert but not worth the money unless you are trying to be a trainer at a gym and make half the money you can make doing individual sales
