both are 1996 with 130,000km,Cavaliers is 3,700 and the Sunfire is 3,000, so which one should I get?

AFAIK they are both at least 80% the same vehicle. I'd go with whichever looks more well-maintained.

You do realize those prices are absolutely insane, even though I am guessing you are from Canada.

I purchase cars at government auctions and then refurbish them to re-sell on eBay. Cars like the Cavalier usually get 2 or 3 bids and sell for about US $20 to $50. Heck, in October, 2003, I saw a 2002 Cavalier with 11K miles sell for $350. I was talking to the guy who bought it, he said he was going to just turn around and re-sell it....to help pay off his 2003 Cavalier that he was $7,000 in the hole for!!!

Shop around, man, shop around, and hit any and ALL auctions that you can! Any site that charges you for info on government auctions is a scam, at least in the USA, it's all public domain info that is free if you know where to ask...

I agree i dont think i would buy any american car that was built for cheap. I work at autozone right now while attending college for mechanical enginnering and i can tell u that over 80 percent of the parts we sell are for domestic cars. If you are going to buy one i would by the better maintained one.

Do you know where the fuel filter is on a 93 ForeRunner?

And also the powere steering master on a 03 Jetta?

Chevrolet mechanic here, both sellers are asking far to much for those cars. I would reconsider this purchase.

both of those cars are possibly the worst cars I've ever driven. J-bodies are horrid. I've had them as rentals before. A used civic, as pathetic as it is, blows them out of the water in performance, reliability, styling, and gas mileage. Its worth the extra thousand or so.

agreed, hondas are more expensive, but you get what u pay for. I see more chevrolets on the side of the road then i do hondas.

No i havent driven a ridgline yet thats the truck right.. they sure are purtty. I am not big on trucks but that is one truck i would consider buying.

Khyron as far as styling goes i would suggest the cavy over the sunfire, i dont like the style of sunfires, unless they are fully modded out. Other then that they are pretty much the same car. Good luck with either one of your choices.

Neither. They are both horrible vehicles and some of the most unreliable ever released by GM. There's a reason the Sunfire is commonly referred to as the "shitfire"

Buy a Toyota, buy a honda, hell buy a Nissan... don't buy a J-body (i think thats the Cav/Sun platform) unless you're ready for the pain.

Japanese imports hold their value longer BECAUSE THEY ARE RELIABLE. You get what you pay for. Don't skip out on something as important as personal transportation. I hear the Scion vehicles are pretty affordable used; and you can get them with a warranty. Consumer Reports from last year stated they're the most reliable brand on the road. I've ridden in a xB and its HUGE on the inside.
