I've been reading some interesting studies on supposed carb blocking supplements. The idea being that the use of white kidney bean extract and chromium to inhibit the amylase enzyme to reduce the amount of carbohydrates absorbed by the body to aid fat loss.

Has anybody here used a carb blocker like the extracts mentioned above? If so, did they work?

Any thoughts, experiences or opinions will be appreciated and repped.

These were a lot more popular ~10 years ago or so. "Cheat tabs" or "Carb clockers" and the like never did much for me. I'd venture to guess that even if they were effective, it would cause some crazy GI issues.

Some folks like the GDA stuff, it works on the same idea - you take it with your largest carb meal. I think those are the modern-day equivalent of what you were asking about. You could look into Assass1nate by Olympus

I buy and regularly use carb blockers containing white kidney bean extract and fenugreek. It definitely works for me. Less bloated and it helped to not gain a gram during my vacation, I am convinced. Also pretty cheap, so does not hurt
 
I knew about white kidney bean but fenugreek?..I'll have to read up on that
 
You can't just make carbs disappear after ingestion, that's complete nonsense. If ever there was a snake oil product, carb blockers might take the top spot.
 
And test boosters do not boost test, tell us something new. Obviously, carb blockers do not make carbs disappear, that is not their intention

I've looked into Assass1nate, I might give it a go after I've finished my current bottle of SlinMax.

I am in Europe, but Ok.gen makes a cheap one if you use one of the many the discount codes. It is sold on one of the biggest European retailer sites - Proz.s

Where would you recommend getting a carb blocker? Local supp store?
 
The term carb blocker is a bit over the top in my opinion, as you can't truly "block" calories. But some of these products and ingredients can be effective by preventing some of the ingested starch from being absorbed by the body. For example, white kidney bean extract is an amylase inhibitor, which blocks some enzymes required to break down carbs. By doing so, some carbs can pass through the body undigested and those calories may not be fully utilized by the body.

I would recommend using a GDA or nutrient partitioner over a carb blocker. A GDA will also include ingredients to help with blood sugar and insulin sensitivity. I've never noticed anything significant with carb blocking products, but using a GDA like Slinmax has definitely brought me benefits and helped with digestion, bloating, pumps, and fullness
 
Examine: Calorie Blocker and White Kidney Bean Extract. They seem to at least do... something... minor. I'm trying to wrap my head around why spend the money when you can just eat in even a small deficit or increase activity? (they don't induce extra fat loss). It would seem that if the calories are not available to the body, it will still sense a 'virtual' deficit - not sure you wouldn't get as hungry as true deficit? *Maybe* the food volume would "feel" the same? But really, how much can these things "block"? Eating 150kcals less is just a 1/2 cup of Oatmeal. Maybe on a binge, but one meal, or even day of bad eating doesn't really affect anything. Negating 1/10th of a slice of an entire pizza on a cheat (or a daily, crappy diet) isn't going to do anything. Chiten, from Shellfish, was the "Fat Blocker" of the 90's - we're still getting fatter (well, not "us", LOL).

Well as you know from our previous conversations I'm a long time fan and user of SlinMax.
The carb blocking supplements were just something that I came across and the studies seemed quite promising. An extract called "Phase 2" showed a 53%-66% decrease in carbohydrare absorbtion across three seperate studies.
