Can vitamins affect your emotions?

Last night I threw out what's left of both the Vitamin C's and B12. Here's what happend..

When I started taking those Vits (other than food) the only thing I was putting in was Omega 3's of Clinically tested quality and a multi-vit I'd been taking for 2-3 years anyway.

Within 3 weeks of B12 all my aggression (which was internally natrual for me) dissapeared, never to return.

Within 3 days of Vit C, I felt *unbelievabily happy*, and all my emotional stresses have either disapeared completely or I have no concious awareness of them since!

It's been weeks since I took the Vit C, and longer since the B12, but Im left feeling almost Autistic becuase I have no feelings emotionally.

Has anyone had an experience like this *from vitamins*?

I have basically cured, or at least addressed my depression with vitamins, namely folic acid, B12, chromium and selenium. They are all co-factors for the production or reception of various nuerotransmitters and have been shown to work for various psychiatric problems.

Deficiencies in any one of these or other vitamins/minerals can throw homeostasis out of wack and result in the gradual building up of emotional stressors...at least if you believe holistic medicine and I do.

but also goes on to say that there are too many factors that could influence the outcome of the study.

Ive never heard of anyone have extreme emotional reactions from vitamin intake,unless there is a preexisting deficency, perhaps you are looking at a placebo effect? What's your supplement history?

I've always had a belief that physical health and emotinal health always had some form of correlation so what bioman stated makes perfect sense now. :goodpost:

I think if you want to have a sense of overall well-being, keep yourself healthy. Life is hard enough as it is to be hurting your body and depriving it of key factors.

My Zinc and Magnesium make me feel great. I have a heart mur mur which has been associated with Magnesium and Zinc deficiency. I also had symptoms associated with a heart mur mur, anxiety, allergies, food intolerance low sex drive, IBS and low body weight. My Zinc and Magnesium supplementation has changed my life, all of my above symptoms are greatly reduced or gone. I went from 6’ 1” 155 to 180 pounds in 6 months. My mood is great and I feel the best I have ever felt in my life, I’m also stronger then ever and making great gains for the first time in 19 years of lifting. I only wish I discovered this at the gage of 13 instead of 33. On the other hand vitamin c makes me feel terrible. Its amazing how much a mineral/vitamin deficient person can benefit by supplementation.

I hear ya! I wish I would have stumbled on all of this when I was much younger. Lost lots of time being miserable and too unstable to enjoy other people very much.

It'd be cool if people would keep posting their experiences here. Very inspiring.
 
I've tried far too many supplements over the last 11+ years to list here...

If Vitmains can do all this, which should I be taking to improve mental performance???

The ones I listed in my first post are clinically proven to help..most notably folic acid. Sublingual B12 tabs can help a lot. Selenium and chromium are important cofactors for a lot of reactions and nuerotransmitters.

Though not a vitamin, acetyl L caritine is some great stuff to improve cognitive performance.
