Are there any drawbacks, disadvantages, or negative side effects of taking both?
But those also have BCAAs and amino acids!I wouldn't risk it.Just eat steak; fish; eggs; and steak instead.

Branch Chain AMINO ACIDS
You do realize they are the same thing correct?
This is both true and not true. There are more amino acids than just BCAAs. You may have issues with intestinal absorption between certain AAs when dosed together. IMO it is a valid question to be asking if you are looking at supplementing with l-tryp or something other than a BCAA
For sure, but that depends on his goals. Some people take l-tryp for certain reasons etcbetter off taking 3g of leucine which is optimal to trigger MPS, cheap and effective.
My diet/protein intake is pretty good, mostly egg whites, chicken breast, steak, rice, spinach, and broccoli everyday. I drink at least one protein shake a day, and a preworkout. And I take ZMA before bed.... I started with the BCAAs but when I read the bottle there are other non essential aminos not included and just wanted to know if there was an added benefit adding regular aminos as well.
Thank You!! Which creatine do you recommend?
