Calories on bulking test e

How many calories over maintenance should i be consumimg ln first test e only cycle? I see people recommend 500 over but how can some people gain over 20 pounds on first cycle? Were they eating more? Should I start the surplus right from the beginning or only after the test e kicks in the 4th 5th week?

Adjust as you see fit. Start at 500, do that for a week (once the test is actually kicking), and see how you like the results. If you think you can add more lean weight, increase calories. What works for me, may not work for you.

There is going to be a lot of factors that will contribute to weight gain:
-Caloric surplus
-Increased glycogen storage (from the test)
-Increased estrogen levels (from the test)
-Gains in muscle

The caloric surplus alone of 500 cals will lead to about 10-12 lbs after a few months. The test will allow more glycogen to be stored within the muscles as well, so add a few lbs there. Estrogen levels (even with an AI) will be high from 500mg/week which will contribute to some water retention and possibly some fat (especially when in a caloric surplus). Another couple lbs in lean mass can be expected as well.

So as you can see, once all these factors are added up, it is easy to expect a 20 lb gain from this cycle, especially when your goal is to bulk.

Yes - thanks guys. With a kick you'd go +500 right out of the gate? Or give it a couple days?

You could always start out eating at maintenance and slowly increase calories while the Test kicks in full gear. Depends how strict you want to be with your bulk and whether or not you mind more fat gain.

Don't want to use up too much runway in that manner, but that makes good sense. Probably start a little above maintenance and go from there. No problems being strict once I'm in my routine. Thanks.

Yes good plan. I usually always just eat a couple hundred calories over maintenance when on cycle, that way I stay lean and add some quality size without "ballooning" up. This way, you can bulk up the majority of the year, and only need to do a brief cut before summer.
