Bush: Holding 3 jobs "uniquely American"

Your comments towards others on this board in an "offensive" manner which obviously some people have an issue with.

I could careless what you have to say about Bush or any other politician.

So it's offensive that I ask you guys to elaborate on why Bush's comments are so horrific?
That's easy...I explained it already. It's because everybody knows his predecessor would have been very sympathetic for her. Hell, he probably would have ever said "I feel your pain". :D

Although, I do have to admit. The conservatives would have thrown a hissy-fit as well if one of the libs said that. It does "sound" bad. I don't believe it was intended the way it's been portrayed (Bush wasn't exactly blessed in the smooth talking department), but it did sound odd.

And working 3 jobs "IS" uniquely american. Most other countries in the world people wouldn't do that. They'd expect their government to whipe their ass instead of getting out and working for themselves. However, we're now heading in that direction...soon enough we'll be Germany where everyone in the world flocks there for welfare, free education, free medical, etc, etc, etc, and is about to be BROKE.

Can you give me any specific examples other than disagreeing with people??

Bush is a horrible speaker and he is worse than that if he doesn't have a script in front of him.

Most other countries?

Back up your claims please. I'm interested.
It's obvious...look at the welfare and unemployment rates of France, Germany, Canada, etc. 8%, 10%, 10% about....what do you think they're doing? LOL....what am I going to do beyond that...travel and interview people? There is a direct correlation between socialist states and unemployemnt rate...the more socialist the state, the higher the unemployment rate. In America depending on what part you live it, it's hard to get unemployment benifits, etc, so people work.

NOW, I do have to give Canada props. For a socialist state, they are doing very well....BUT, they've got a small homogenous population, so that helps ;)

I can see why people would be offened by Bush's comments. Here's a rich man making light (even if he didn't MEAN to) about someone else's unfortunately situtation. was he being serious? I doubt it, but perception is reality and he already has the perception of a snob, richy richy, daddy's boy.

Read the replies man. How many people took issue with your tone and comments... Hell, you even replied to them! lol

Only the liberal ones house and that wasn't what I asked you. The question is give me a specific example of something I said that was offensive? Did I reffer to someone else's comments as retarded?

Canada isn't exactly socialist. We are more socialist than I'd like us to be but it's a trade off for some of the benefits we do reap like health care.

Say what you want (and you likely will lol) I would sooner pay more in taxes than have to make a choice between paying my mortage or getting my child health care. In the US... that's a common trade off.

I don't look at that as being socialist. I look at that as doing what's best for your country.

Canada Unemployement rate: 7% for January
US Unemployment rate: 5.2% for January.

Not nearly as bad as you painted it :)

Retarded comments:

"Yes Candada is a pretty liberal place. They refused to let FOX news be shown untill recently. You can also be thown in jail for " hate speach"."

True, canada isn't as socialist as other countries. I like canada....beautiful place.

Now that being said, it's easier for them to have their socialist policies b/c of population size and "ethnic makeup".

I've done the math and the cost of healthcare in the US is very similar to the amount of taxes the gov't in Canada takes out of your taxes. A little over 20%, I believe goes toward the healthcare system. Correct me if I'm wrong, but those were the numbers I came up with after doing a little bit of research and some basic math....same as the USA. Only diff is we have to buy private health insurance.

I don't think hate speech should land you in jail...if you're inciting violence then it's different, but just simply "Group X are lame peices of **** and are second class citizens" shouldn't land you in jail, IMHO.

Yeah, those numbers would look fairly close I think. I'd have to search to come up with actual numbers and I just don't have the free moment right now.

We too, also buy private health care. Well, we do or our place of employment does (if you are lucky eonugh). This covers the "extra's" like prescriptions, dental, therapy, etc. But for mejor medical and hospital/doctor coverage? Covered. I don't have to wait until my next paycheque to go see my doctor. I book an appointment if something isn't right.

That's why I said retarded :)

We don't get thrown in jail for such things. Voilence... yes but random remarks like you indicated? Nope.

Yes you can house. There was a holocaust denier who fled Canada because of hate speech legislation. The catholic church was also upset because of similar legislation that "protects homosexuals" from hate speech. Also I didn't ask for your opinion of something I said that was retarded. I asked for a specific example of something I said that was offensive.

As oppesed to Al Gore was was a rich Daddys boy and John Kerry who was well off too?

The health care in Candada is a mess. My cousin is a nurse there.

And this is my point...for about the same percentage of total income, albeit this is the "mean household income" for americans, you get private healthcare which is usually superior. American's don't die early due to our healthcare system...there are a couple factors that kill our numbers. Stress b/c we're a nation of workoholic glutton's (which I have nothing against) and we have a higher black population than many industrial countries, and they tend to have shorter life spans than other races.

I'm not saying our healthcare system isn't in crisis--it is. I just don't believe universal healthcare is the answer.

Clinton was the last real Bubba we've had trying to get into the White House. He came across as many things, but an insensitive blueblood wasn't one of them.

A mess compared to the wonderful "if you are rich" American system?

Please. I too have family and friend n the medical community, some of which have done stints in the US and NONE of them say our Health Care is a mess compared to that of the US.

They aren't the one's holding the President title beside their name nor did they MAKE the comment.

What I am getting at it is that in Canada, I can walk into any hostpital (or Doctors office), any time of the day and get treated for whatever aliment I have and I don't have a touch a penny of my money to do it.

Not only that, I don't have to have "medical insurance" for that level of care. It's a basic right of any Canadian to receive Health Care. While I content we do have a semi two-teired system in Canada (even though many refuse to say so or beleive it's a good thing) the quality of treatment in terms of Doctors and Nurses is no less than the private facilities.

Case in point, I broke my neck 8.5 years ago and I had THE best neurosurgeon in Canada looking after me. Didn't cost me a single penny.

Nothing is perfect but I still think (only going by the horror stories of some friends in the US and the media reports) Canada has a better system for nation wide Health Care but then again.

It's not a big deal. There are lots of things in how America does things that I would prefer we adpot in Canada. You know, like actualyl being able to vote FOR the person you WANT to lead your country. Parlimentary system sucks :)

If it's not a mess why is the American system your safety net? In other words if someone has a heart condition and needs to have an operation they would need treated in America because they would have to wait too long in Canada. My cousin who is a nurse in Canada had a stroke. She told us that if she wasn't a nurse and have known the doctors she would be dead. I was up their recently for a wedding and was talking to the priest there. He also told me that everyone one has health insurance but you need to becareful where you go.

Fact please.
I believe we had this debate before house. I posted two articles about Canadian hate crime laws. So my comments are "retarded" , yet everything I say is true. Then on top of that you accuse me of saying "offensive" things but you apparently don't think labeling what I said as retarded is offensive. I also have asked you at least three times to give me a specific example as to what I said that is offensive which you have not been able to do. So apparently me asking a question and disagreeing with you is offensive to you.

It would be great to not have to pay a dime for health care. It's just that as VG outlined, I don't want to have to worry about Doctors working for low pay and huge waits to get treatment. Again, it's not that bad of a things for Canada ATM b/c you have a small population that is far from diverse. Once you throw some diversity and a larger population in the mix and it won't be as pretty. :D We don't really get to vote...it's just so works out that most of the time the popular vote and the electoral votes work out :D

Why K, we do that with public eudcation in this country.. pay the teachers less in some cases than the local dog catcher and I am not joking about that...
