The best thing to do when homebrewing is to try to mimic mainstream supplements. If there's a supplement you're currently taking, or thinking of taking, do some research, and you'll find out what's in it, and a ballpark idea of how much to use.
Just for an example:
You could mix 250g Creatine Monohydrate, 100g taurine, 20g of K-R-ALA, and 1 kilo of dextrose. Pour your powders into a kool-whip bowl, close the lid, and shake vigorously for a few minutes.
This will give you 50 servings of a creatine supp similar to Cell-Tech or Phosphagen HP. Oldschool, yes, but a good example for a homebrewing beginner.
Each serving is 27.4 grams containing:
80 Calories
20g sugars
5g creatine monohydrate
2g Taurine
400mg of K-R-ALA (supplying about 350mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid)
To find out how many tablespoons, teaspoons, etc. each serving is, check with your supplier for bulk their bulk densities (which are given in g/ml).
Serving size is a summation of
Bulk Density * (weight of powder/ total weight)
Conversion factors:
1 teaspoon= 5ml
1 Tablespoon= 3 teaspoons = 15 ml
I hope this helps. If you have any further questions, leave a post, or email me at
