breezy's training, supplementation, and food log

So true, I was doing 6 ways today and on my last set my wife walked by and was like ' are you ok? from your face you look either disgusted or in pain' lol

Haha I probably had people wondering the same.

By the way ... nice workout today... Supersetted with only 30 seconds rest throughout is solid!

Off to a BBQ.... Venison, Chicken, Turkey sausage on the menu.... who needs carbs with all that!

Thanks. I'm not a big fan of arm workouts, but it makes it fun...and quick.

Sounds awesome. Enjoy!

Yeah, it'd be hard to find another combo that causes a more intense pump or the amount of ridiculous faces lol.

I usually do it the other way around, over & backs followed by 6 ways, a differnt kind of brutal but more managable if you get what I mean? lol.

Fuaark
This is what I forgot last week for shock. I did DB laterals with partials ss with six ways,

I was missing the band over and backs

This is what I did last 2 sessions. I am not sure about more manageable part. :)

I do the same.. or if not the over and backs, whatever else I am doing and then finish with 6 ways..

Haha yes I do. I definitely prefer finishing with the band work, as it allows you to keep fighting through the pain for longer. When you think you're "done", just decrease the resistance slighty and keep going until you can't possibly move your arms regardless of the band.

Haha that sounds fun. I'd try swapping over and backs with spider crawls to failure (or at least 45 secs) as well.

Have you guys tried doing spider crawls?

Not yet.

I did try to do Meadows rows with a wheel barrow found it very awkward..

I'd recommend giving them a shot.

"Dante" rows (gripping both handles) or actually tried Meadows rows? It seemed like a decent idea for Dante rows, but I haven't tried it. Maybe some wheel barrow modifications could help haha.

This morning’s leg session was awesome. It was very challenging and had me sweating at a level equal to playing hockey (a ridiculous amount)…Go BRUINS!

Leg Curl
3 warm-up x6
100x6
110x6
120x6, 80x8, 50x20, 120x10 partials (out of stretched position)

-very strict form

Explosive Squats
155x6
245x6
335x6

-The first 3 sets were a warm-up using SSB. I barely had any padding and once I put 3 plates on each side it was incredibly uncomfortable. I had to ditch the bar.

335x3
365x3
405x3

-Using standard bar. Explosiveness wasn’t too bad at 405.

Challenge Set
315x3, 365x3, 405x3, 425x3 (added weight as quick as possible)
30 sec rest
315x3
30 sec rest
225x10

-This wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be, but was still brutal. I was able to get the last 10 reps pretty easily. I’ll be doing this again next week and will probably increase the weight. It did however have me out of breathe and pouring sweat, which didn’t let up until I left the gym.

Leg Press
270x4
450x4
540x4
720x8, 630x8, 450x8, 360x8

-I had someone take the weight off for the drop set, so there wasn’t much rest.

Quad Stretch
30 sec per leg (foot on flat bench/knee on ground)

DB Walking Lunges
50x10 (per leg)

-One leg at a time. I stepped forward with my right leg, lowered left knee to ground, then brought left leg back even with right. I did this 10 times and then repeated with my left leg forward.

70x10, BWx12 (per leg)

-alternating legs/steps

Quad Stretch
30 sec per leg (foot on flat bench/knee on ground)

DB Stiff-Legged Deads
80x8
90x8
105x8

-full ROM/flex glutes at top

Standing Calf Raise / Dorsiflexion
30 / 50
30 / 50
30 / 50

-hold for 10 sec every 10 reps on calf raise

This is what I did last 2 sessions. I am not sure about more manageable part. :)

Haha I know what you mean. It is a satisfying workout when you go to get changed and you can't get your arms through the sleeves because they are so fried.

I do the same.. or if not the over and backs, whatever else I am doing and then finish with 6 ways..

Sounds like my workouts. I've been meaning to try spider crawls but they will have to wait until I sub them in.

I'll try them next week once I get my new bands in :D

I bought it a while ago. Definitely worth it. You might want some heavier bands too. Average just doesn't cut it

Thanks for the feedback ace. I'll probably start with the pack and expand my collection from there.

Ya it is great for the Mt Dog work but some additional bands might be necessary if you are on upper levels of strength (like Breezy :p ).

I have several of ever band just to have them and for various purposes.

Haha doing all the MD stuff, I'm not really sure where my strength is anymore (on major lifts). I'll be looking for some band recommendations from you guys before I add any.

Ya Meadows uses the ones in the pack and he is strong as hell so it is pretty serviceable for the Mt Dog workouts. I like some of the stronger bands for stretching and mobility work mostly.

Any time breezy

Yeah I agree the mountain dog band pack is perfect for the BB type stuff Meadows does.

Breezy if you want to do max effort type stuff, you'll need at least some gray ones from efs..
I really love the onyx bands. Those Fockers are NASTY.
The thickest pair is nearly 200lbs at the top out of the mono

Thanks bolt. I need to incorporate more of that into my training.

Thanks again ace. I'm sure I'll get back into the heavier lifting soon enough and will definitely pick some up.

5/20/13

I've been changing my workouts every couple of weeks (exercises, reps, variations, intensity techniques, rest, etc.) and loving it. This morning's chest and shoulder session was one of my favorites since going with this approach.

HS Chest Press
2 warm-up x8
230x8
270x8
320x8

Explosive BB Flat Bench
1 warm-up x5
185x5
185x5
185x5
185x5
185x5

-1sec pause above chest

BB Incline Bench
135x8
155x8
175x8
185x8
205x8

-using standard incline bench

-ROM: ~2 inches above chest to ¾ lockout

Flat DB Twist Press / Band Over and Backs / Band Stretch
40x10 / 6 / 30sec
40x10 / 6 / 30sec
40x10 / 6 / 30sec

-twist press: turn pinkies in and squeeze at top of movement/neutral grip in stretched position

-40lbs was plenty of weight when using proper form and technique.

Cable Lateral Raise
20x12
25x12
25x12

-ROM: low pulley from behind back to eye level with slight bend in elbow

-These were awesome once I established the right bend in my elbow and a solid mind-muscle connection. I focused on not involving front delts at all.

Band Face Pulls
30
30
30

-huge rear delt pump

Cage Press (explosive)
2 warm-up x5
135x5, x10 partials
135x5, x10 partials
135x5, x8 partials
135x5, x8 partials

-leaned in at top of movement and flexed for 2 sec

-partials out of top while leaning in

-I stayed lighter and really focused on the explosiveness, which felt great following the massive pump from face pulls.

Very nice bud! I'm curious to see where your strength is since its been so long since you actually trained for it.

Beastly chest shoulder combo Breezy !

Thanks man. I'm curious as well, but not too concerned about it. I've seen strength improvements with what I've been doing, so I'll take that as a good sign.

No. I have to get me those nifty bands. Will some day.

Yeah, they allow for a lot of new training possibilities. I hope to pick some up for my next official run with MD.

Thank you fumoney! I had a great time with it.

I doubt you would have lost much overall strength and even if you did, you'd pick it back up in no time. Are you doing strength/ hypertrophy cycles or just whatever program that interests you at the time?

My plan for after this FST-7 run I am doing...

Nice. Should be fun.

That's how I see it as well. I don't have anything specific planned at this point. I have about 6 weeks left of my current training and will start thinking about what's next in a couple weeks. I'll either move my focus back to strength or start a 12 week MD program.

Ah nice. I only ever plan for a month at a time; and once I hit the end of the month I take a delaod and see where to go from there. I'm always interested to see how other people do it

I have no imagination. If I like the routine I go months with it.

That's a solid plan. I don't like to think too far ahead either.

That's basically what I've been doing. The variety of MD inspired training keeps it interesting though.

Very exciting day today. I had an awesome back session, OxyELITE Protein is being released to the InnerCircle, and I'm carbing up.

As your body changes - so do your goals! At least, that's how it is for me.

It sometimes works that way for me as well. However, a change in my body composition goals doesn't necessarily mean a change training.

Watching/waiting for the IC email.

Me too. I keep getting excited whenever an email comes in.

I forgot to add the big B's game to the list of today's excitement!

Should be a great game, although I expect the MSG crowd to be friggin crazy lol

Yup, a win would be huge. I hate watching games at MSG (on tv). They need to turn some lights on lol.

5/21/13

One-Arm BB Row
2 warm-up x8
100x8
100x8
100x8
100x8

-25lb plates used for increased stretch/ROM

-My positioning and mind-muscle connection were on point with these. I had an intense pump throughout my lats.

Explosive Deadlift
3 warm-up x3
315x10
335x10
355x10

Challenge Set
355x13, 225x18

-My goal was to beat the reps from last week's final set, but that wasn't happening with the high reps sets leading up to it. I decided to add a drop set to make up for it, which left me in rough shape.

DB Pullover (lying on bench)
55x12
55x12
55x12

Stretchers
120x8
120x8
130x8
130x8

Banded Hyperextensions
20
15

-increased resistance on second set

I have no imagination. If I like the routine I go months with it.

I'm the same for the most part, but I re-evaluate monthly/ add in a new block of training then revert back and so on. Lately i've been doing 3 weeks strength 1 week deload, 4 weeks hypertrophy then a one week transition phase of light recovery then back to strength etc.

I tried combining the two using 5/3/1 + BBB then assistance hypertrophy using a upper/lower upper/lower split but the volume was nutty and I burnt out after a month lol. I loved it though, i'll just have to incorporate more deloads more often.

I like these ideas...

BBB - Big Beyond Belief right??? 6 day?

Boring but big; it is insane. Some people don't like it because of the high volume deadlifts and the fact that deadlifts require technical 'perfection' and generally require 'reloading' before attempting a second, third, fourth rep etc. but I did it anyway. 15x5 is exhausting lol
