breezy's training, supplementation, and food log

That is what I usually do also haha. Have a set number you want to do, then you get there, hit the number and keep going because inside your head it is telling you to keep going :).

I actually did my HIIT outside also today. Finally nice enough to start being able to do it.

Baby steps lol.

Nice. It was about 50 degrees and sunny. Not bad, but the grass was soaked (so were my shoes).

This is a horrible time of year for tracks and hills... with the water/mud... My daughter plays rugby and she looks like she has been wallowing in it lol

Wasn't too bad for me. The ground was a bit mushy but not way bad.

How is the dosing MBCAA post workout instead of pre going? I know you said previously you were doing that for some reason but can't remember.

Lol thankfully it wasn't that muddy.

Alright so far, but I haven't been doing it very long. I'm just experimenting...hoping to maximize fat loss by not having BCAA's available for fuel.

Interesting... I was under the impression that the bcaa's protected from muscle breakdown? If this is not the case then I will be ditching my morning dose of BCAA's before my runs..

They can. I guess it comes down to what your main goal is.

I saw this discussed in a thread recently. I'll find it after I eat.

Interested in how it works out for you :)

It was probably jiggz that you saw.

Intra workout they can stop lipolysis because your body has them to use as fuel and won't have a need to use fat stores as energy. (At least I believe that is the issue you're referring to)

Yeah, I believe I've seen him post about it a few times.

I didn't find the thread that I was thinking of, but this is on the same topic:

I don't know if I'll notice any difference, but I'm willing to experiment during my cut.

Thanks just read it... and being as I want to cut some fat, I think I will give that a go.

Breezy, did you get those quest cravings PB cups yet?! They sound amazing

I have a cart open on the quest website right now with: CCCD, PB&J, and PB cups... about to submit

No Problem. Interested in seeing if you notice anything.

No, but thanks for reminding me that I ordered them lol. I just checked and they arrive on Monday.

I can tell you, you cannot go wrong with the PBJ ones!

4/28/13

Single Arm BB Row
3 warm-up x8
100x8 (4 25lb plates)
100x8
100x8
100x8

-not Meadows rows

-constant tension

-25lb plates used for increased stretch/ROM

This video shows the difference between the standard one-arm bb row and Meadows row.

Smith Rows (explosive)
1 warm-up x6
200x6
200x6
200x6
200x6

-20lbs bar resistance

-explosive speed felt great

DB Pullover (MD)
55x10
60x10
60x10
60x10

-constant tension

DB Shrug
100x12
100x12
100x12

-3 sec hold at top

Deadlift (explosive)
2 warm-up x3
315x3
315x3
315x3
315x19

-These were all about explosiveness until the final set. I finished the workout by cranking out reps until I was ready to drop. I was somewhat surprised that my speed remained really good until the last few. I'll probably up the weight next week, as the explosive sets weren't very hard to maintain.

Possibly some LISS this afternoon.

Those barbell rows look interested, how did you find them on your lower back?

No issue at all. You don't have to bend over to where your back is parallel to the ground. They actually felt great.

Here's a different video/angle:

Thanks Breezy.. That video shows a better angled back. (I had surgery on my lower back 20 years ago - so have to be careful).

What the hell's up with our Bruins.. should have been the Sens...

During exercise you only mobilise a very small amount of aminos from muscle tissue (not enough to be concerned with) and this can be mediated (hypothesized) by Carbohydrate infusion pre-exercise. Carbohydrate takes predominance over all substrates during anaerobic activity; in saying that, if you run low-carb diets (as I do) then the body can quite easily adapt to the use of ketones and fatty acids as a fuel with no resultant power loss.

In any case, the use of BCAAs intra are mostly marketing ploy; their most important roles (primarily Leucine) are to activate mTOR post exercise.

And if you train fasted, you start off in negitive protein balance but after exercise you end up more postivie (but still negitive); take a CHO + BCAA beverage then to restore protein balance

No problem wasme. Yeah back injuries are awful. I haven't had surgery, but do have a history of sciatica. It always gets aggravated when doing something simple (last time I was tying my shoe lol)...then I can barely move (if at all) for a week+.

Yup. Either way, time for playoff hockey.

No better time of year, and usually amounts to more cardio for me!

Sciatica is awful, it was partially why i had surgery.

Haha it's an exciting time for sure.

Luckily I haven't had to deal with it for the last couple years.

I have a lot of real world things to take care of over the next day or two. I'll be on AM whenever I can, but it probably won't be as often as usual.

4/29/13

Machine Press (neutral grip) / Band Over and Backs
2 warm-up x12
200x12 / 8
200x12 / 8
200x11 / 8
200x11 / 8

-1 sec stretch/1 sec flex

-strict form (stopped right before it started to break)

Pec Minor Dip / Band Over and Backs
12 / 8
12 / 8
12 / 8
12 / 8

-used a closer grip on dips and got a great contraction

DB Bent-Over Side Lateral Raise
20x20 (full ROM), x30 (partial swings)
20x15, x30
15x18, x30
15x16, x30

-These were intense. The full ROM followed by partials allowed me to keep hitting my delts as opposed to using traps/lats.

Spider Crawls / Band Over and Backs
45 sec / 8
45 sec / 8
45 sec / 8
45 sec / 8

-I already had a ridiculous pump when starting these and finished with the most intense rear delt pump of my life. It lasted a while and basically transitioned right into soreness.

10 mins HIIT

Quest PB Cups will arrive today and I had PB Marshmallow protein show up earlier. The protein is pretty good IMO (solid PB taste), but probably won't remain in my rotation (I'll have to try it a few more times). I'm going to make ice cream later with PB Marshmallow (Cellucor)/PB Chocolate (Giant Sports) protein and PB Cups...I'm looking forward to it. :)

That ice cream you are going to make sounds amazing. I may have to make some GS ice cream tonight but I don't have the PB cups. :(

...curious how the PB cups will be... Knowing Quest - I am sure they will be great.

They're really good, especially when you consider the ingredients/macros. The chocolate isn't very sweet (its unsweetened lol) and they aren't as creamy as a Reese's, but they're still tasty. I'd probably put them behind CCCD bars (heated) in overall deliciousness though. I want to have more now, but only made room for 2 packs in today's calories (saving for ice cream).

It should be awesome.

All this talk about these damn bars. I'm going to go get some tonight. If they're good enough for breezy, I'll chow down on them.

So I did some Mt Dog Training today...it was a low volume but after a week off from the gym it kicked my ass. My log will be up tonight! :D

Not tryna hijack...just saiyain.

I bet your delts were on fire after those ful ROMs follwed by the partials :bigeyes2:

It was ridiculous and the sider crawls/over and backs made it worse. Today was an all out rear delt assault.

I forgot to take another pic before I started eating (and it started melting), but I didn't wait too long. It beat my high expectations and I'll be having this a couple times tomorrow.

That is straight food porn....no doubt I have to make some ice cream tonight now.

Nice. Try spider crawls with/after rear delt raises or swings and you might just cry. :D

Ahhh I cant wait to get my pb cups! They'll be here Wed! Super jelllly

Interested in hearing what you think of them boss.

Do it. The PB Choc mixed very well with PB Marshmallow.

Me too. I should've made more.

I hate you

Thanks! :)

Hey Breezy, start to finish... how long is the process of making the ice cream?

I think that took me about 10 minutes from start to finish, but it's taken a little longer before. I had gallon "freezer" bags, which seem speed up the process (last time I was stuck with "storage" bags). They started icing up on the outside in about a minute.

I'm prob 45 min away from you. Make more. I'll track you down!

I'm on it.

As soon as I have time, I'm going to spend an hour making a bunch so I can just pull a bag out of the freezer whenever I feel like it.

Edit: I'll try it with one bag first to see if freezing overnight lowers the quality.

This seems like a great idea.. that way there will be lots to go around when we watch the Bruins destroy the Leafs on Wednesday! lol

Good call. I won't have time to be making anything once the game starts.
