Brain fog and cognitive issues

Hello everyone,

Been having some issues lately, and was hoping to get opinions on it. Lately I've been having issues pronouncing some words and spitting out what I want to say. I know what I want to say, but can't quite spit it out and it drives me nuts. I feel like I'm talking in slow motion. Some days I'm fine, while others are horrible. In addition, the brain fog has been getting worse and worse. Trying to recall things I should know has been quite the task.

I workout 4 days a week, and stick to carbs post workout only and trace carbs on days off. I'm starting to think that these issues may be related to low the carb diet. Maybe I should try having some oats for breakfast so my brain is awake when I need it the most. Is anybody else going through something similar? Any supplement recommendations?

I have the same issue and have been getting worse year after year since college. I don't know if it's over training, not enough sleep, supplement abuse(caffeine, stimulants, etc.) lack of enough proper nutrition like protein, fats or something other. maybe it's not using my mind and brain like I should with reading and other brain stimulating activities. Maybe it's stress. Quite possibly a mixture of all of the above.
 
Thanks everyone, I will start having some more carbs and see if that helps and report back. I tried supplementing with chelated magnesium and it seems to help me out a bit. I will look into getting on this long term. If anybody knows any additional supplements to help, please share.

This would be ideal.

Sometimes brain fog is a symptom of a serious condition and seeing your doctor would be ideal. I had a similar issue for some time and chalked it up to age, sleeping habits, stress, etc. but eventually I did see a doc and it turned out to be something far more concerning.

Im having the same issues...i believe mine to be related to sleep (i work overnights) and energy drink abuse (drinking way to many for many years in a row) When im well rested I can def tell a difference

Do you mind sharing what your doctor found?
 
In my case it was a neurological condition, but I'd prefer not to elaborate because I don't want to cause any undue anxiety. Cognitive fog and what sounds like dysphasia (difficulty speaking) could be caused by any number of things ranging from mild to severe, so its best to get a consultation from a professional. It could just turn out to be something as easily treatable as a slight thiamine deficiency, but you won't know for sure until they run some tests.
 
I know it has already been said, but it is advisable that you make an appointment with your primary care provider. The symptoms you are describing: dysarthria (difficulty articulating speech due to motor deficits) and expressive dysphasia (difficulty communicating with speech due to neurologic deficits) could be due to a number of conditions that warrant further investigation.
