Ever get a wake up call and say to yourself.. That was a close one!?

2 days ago i was moving houses (Started Saturday Morning) apart from the usual stress's that house moving creates we we're actually getting everything packed and moved with no hassles at all. Weather was absolutely spot on for us and we managed to get a few extra hands. No hassles....... Until...

I was standing and a friend of mine spoke to me and my return comment just came out a jumble'd mess. Completely slurred. At first i was like. What was that to myself? So within 5 seconds this overpowering feeling took over my full left side of my body. The worst feeling i have ever had in my life. I looked at my friend and he knew straight away something was up. I says something bad is happening and i felt like i was about to pass out and a few of them caught onto me and i managed to lay down. The full left side of me was numb/tingling. My left vision was a cloud. This started to ease and i could get onto my feet. I went inside and he says.. Right car you need to get to A&E.

Within 15 minutes i was hooked up to all these machines and monitors. I was like jeez what's going on

About an hour after tests a Doctor came in and says you have had what is called a TIA. He says it is very similar to a stroke and that you had a temporary blockage of blood to your brain He says they happen very quick and then you get an aftermath effect for up to 24 hours. Which i did all of yesterday. Just noticed my left side didn't feel 100%.

To sum it all up. I have a follow up this week to find out where the problem originated from and to hopefully get it resolved and it to never happen again. I have to take blood thinners for a few weeks until i get a Doctors advice on how to prevent any future ones.

Very scary/horrible feeling. I have never felt anything like that in my life. Just shows that we never know what's happening within our body's and if any problems are brewing. It's made me scared of it happening again.

Just wondered if i should be changing my diet and or to use natural blood thinners as part of a daily routine? I know Omega 3 fats can help with this.

I am relatively fit.. Say around 10-12% bodyfat. Very active. Lift weights 3-4 times a week and my diet is well balanced.

Anything else i could add to my daily life? After experiencing that i would happily make my lifestyle based around keeping in good health.

Honestly if you keep good health then do everything you can to remain this way. That was a very scary experience and just made me realise that i ain't invincible.

Any advice guys on what to do? I will ask the consultant on Thursday also.

Thanks!

Have aspirin in hand. If you notice symptoms in the future like that, take it.

I'm so sorry to hear this and I'm glad you are okay. I have had this happen several times that are known and a bunch more that's I didn't even bother going in for because I knew what was going on and I know there isn't anything they can do for it. Like your doctors stated they will probably put you on blood thinners for a few months as a precautionary measure and watch your INR but if you are on trt I would getting used to going to Tractor Supply and getting a couple of 30ml or 50ml syringes and doing some at home bloodletting every couple of weeks which is what I do and has kept things pretty decent. Other than that you can use something called natto kinase when you are off of the warfarin. If they try to put you on Xarelto I would just tell them you would rather stick with the tried-and-true old school stuff because I had nothing but problems with the newer selective ones. Drinking is out of the question when you are on blood thinners and if you stop the blood thinners I would pick up a habit of drinking wine on a regular basis for the tannins and phytonutrients and stuff like that. I also take liquid omega-3s as I feel like my blood likes the liquid version more than the gel tabs. I could be forgetting some things but I know I've covered the major bases and feel free to message me if you want and I can go over some more stuff with you. If you know your family history that will help a lot, my one grandmother died from m i d and the other one had three Strokes before she died so I have stroke type issues on both sides of the family so it really didn't surprise me in the end. Best of luck and I'm here to tell you that you are not a wuss or anything like that because it is most definitely the worst feeling I have ever had also and in my opinion the best things you can do is take a bunch of Omega-3s eat a bunch of good fats and cholesterols like eggs and take supplements like adaptogens because some of them seems to make the frequency less for me anyhow. Like Rhodiola seems to make things feel better. Best of luck and just keep being generally healthy and let your close friends and family knlw whats up in case it happens again they wont totally freak and know to get help. Take care brother and god bless.

P.s.- and as stated above i always have at least a few asprin in my bag and car so that hopefully they are in arms reach and I can chew one up if it happens again.

Have also tried cod liver oil like valiant thor said. Also, after the bad ones I usually gp to cvs and get their algal dha and take those by the handful for a week or two after to help my brain and it does seem to help.
I do take d3 and vit e and for some reason i love ginger (caps and in food) and onions and other stuff so may be my body telling me I need that stuff.
Also, seems like liver supps make my brain happier. Gut mind connection is for real no doubt so something else to keep in mind. And i also play ganes and stuff that are good for neuro plasticity so that if the big one hits hopefully my brain will be able to recover and rewire.
And yeah, I started praying. Thats for sure.

Thanks bro. Appreciate you writing all this out.

Yeh its VERY scary ain't it? I have never felt something like that in my life. Horrible experience.

Do you suffer these? By the sounds of it they can re-occur? . The Doctor says to me don't be alarmed but a TIA is a sign of a future stroke occuring? He says they can appear within the first month and even within the first 48 hours of a TIA. I says can they be deterred from happening and he says Yes. He mentioned i need to speak to specialists regarding all of this. He says its usually medication diet ' keeping active and being monitored.

If i had to eat a very specific diet to never experience that again i honestly would. It almost felt like i was about to die.

Yes i am on TRT. Should this be of a concern? I told the doctor at the hospital and he never raised this with me. I do donate blood every 3 months but this sounds like not enough? I can speak to the specialist on Thursday though.

How much do they occur with you? Any before hand signs to look out for?

Thanks again buddy
