I have both beta alanine and taurine to use as pre-workouts. Didnt want to get flashy with all of the other ingredients in an otc pre. Thoughts on if I should take these together or separate? I've read too many conflicting articles. Also, do you take either on nonworkout days?
^^ Agreed. I've hard that too. But in most cases I've just done 3.2g pre workout and none on non training days. You can take both together as well.
Keep your BA and Taurine doses seperate. They compete with eachother for the same pathway.
Dose Taurine pre-workout and BA as far way as possible. Split BA into two or more doses per day to avoid urinary excretion (dosing with carbs would be best)
I have a question and not saying either of you are wrong or right because I don't know. Are the studies based on individuals or particular exercises which would leave these products to be used together or separate?
You may be intrigued to hear that it may make sense to combine baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and beta alanine. With the former being an acute performance booster that acts as an extracellular pH buffer, the latter has to be take for at least 4-6 weeks to increase the levels of carnosine in the muscle and act as an intracellular buffer that will also increase the YoYo-performance significantly (Saunders. 2012). "But didn't one study show that beta alanine blunts the benefits of baking soda?" Yes, this study did, but I would like to see another better-powered study confirm the results, before I fully subscribe to "BA + BS don't mix."

You don't want to be dosing them together for reasons I already explained.
Also, if using Taurine, you don't want to be using more than the studied dose of 3.2 grams -- at least on days you're dosing Taurine.
